Hi, I have been using an epilator for about 4 months now. It is not a pleasant experience, but persisting through the initial pain, it gets easier and doesn't hurt so much. The results are ok, but I still need to use a razor afterwards to get the stray hairs the epilator missed. I have tried just shaving on its own, but the hair seems to grow back so quick that within a matter of hours I get very itchy and major discomfort.

The epilating/shaving I do seems ok except that I get an awful lot of ingrown hairs as a result. They create ugly red marks and bumps and sometimes seem to get infected. Am I doing something wrong?

I am not on HRT (yet?? Maybe someday). I am considering maybe laser or electrolysis, initially on my face and then possibly move on to the rest of my body. Until I get to that stage, is there anything anybody could recommend to reduce the ingrown hair problem?
