Hi guys.

I don´t know if I have mentioned this before, but I have PMDD, which is a severe version of PMS.
It basically means that I have 1 and a half week per month where I lose my ability to think clearly, become irrational and volatile.

I hate it. I hate that it happens and I hate who I become during that time. I know it isn´t really me but I still hate it, because it reminds me of ->-bleeped-<- that happened to me long ago (violence at the hands of someone who also had this).

I feel alone with this because apparently it´s "3-8% of women" which isn´t much. I haven´t been able to locate a transguy who also is dealing with this. I would be very happy if I could find one and we perhaps could provide support for each other during that ->-bleeped-<-ty time.

Can you take depo provera or something that will stop the cycle and the moods that come with it?

Hey Kylo.

I tried progesterone, though it came with a whole load of side-effects.
I felt unable to concentrate and depressive while taking it, asides from other unspeakable things that happened with my "top region". Which made my dysphoria way worse.

Also tried antidepressants, but they tend to cause urinary retention with me (absolutely not fun).

So not sure what to do now. But it would be great if I could connect with people who experienced the same thing.

Apparently in some countries you can get a hysterectomy because of this, but where I live, they don´t allow that. So I would have to look into getting an hysterectomy (which I want done anyway) elsewhere, but I´m not sure how that would work with insurance.

Would you not be able to get a hysterectomy on grounds of being trans? Here under most insurances it is considered medically necessary if a trans man wants to have a hysterectomy.

Hey Max,

Yes I would but in The Netherlands you need to go through something called a "diagnostic phase" in order to get permission for trans surgery.

The waiting list is about 3 months for an intake, 6 months for the diagnostic phase, then another year of "real life" and only after that you can sign up for surgery which is another year on a waiting list.

My transition thus far has been a little different because I started T on my own account, with supervision from my GP.   but I haven´t gone through such diagnostic phase yet. So it would take quite a while yet.

I think maybe getting hysterectomy in a different country could be the answer, but I am unsure if my insurance would cover it. I think they should, considering that I have tried all the viable medical alternatives.
