You would need to book any tickets in the name and gender that appear on your passport. That's it as far as I know. No limitations or anything like that, just need to make sure the tickets match your identification.

I would also add, make sure you match your photo. So if you aren't changing your name soon, and you look radically different, get an updated photo.

I present male, passport male, and get stopped every time at the scanners because they pick up my breasts. I just tell them I'm trans, get a pat down, and go. Never had any real difficulty. I also never travel to or transit countries where I could have problem, including with the Middle East.

So long as you have your official name on there, and a picture that looks like you there shouldn't be a problem. I had my GIC type up a letter in english explaining my situation so there wouldn't be any sort of doubt when it comes to my passport still saying M.. Never needed to use it so far, most airport security people I think have encountered plenty of transgender before and are perfectly used to it (Or simply dont care). From my home in Norway I've been to both London and New York very recently and even to Tanzania and Mauritius before then without encountering any trouble with airport security, all as a non-passing pre-HRT trans woman. Got my application for changing my legal gender slowly working its way through the system now tho.. Super excited to get that F on there!

Only weird situation I've had was in South Africa (before I started presenting as female) where the lady was staring very intensely at my passport and then at me looking rather confused, and when I asked her if there was a problem she laughed and exclaimed "I thought you were a girl!".. Made me feel rather good actually .

I travel abroad at least once per year, and I have never met any problem. My passport clearly shows 'M'. Yes. TSA in the USA is notorious, but it is the same for everybody.
