yeah, pantyhose that roll down can be very uncomfortable. I have had issues and asked similar questions, I was always told if the band rolls, it is too tight go up 1 size. Then I have had the problem with them feeling like they are falling down.- no win.
Over the years I have experiemented with various brands and styles, even finding that the fit varies from brand to
brand.As I am only small, I could only go up insize not down. Eventually I stuck to a highwaist light control top in a small size 1 or A. I usually lookout for multipack sale buys, and have found the "Hue Control High Waist" is a good option for my shape and good pricing in multipack. I did like and try pantyhose from Target in multipack, fit was good, but easily ladder or tear in work situation.
Everyday wearing with light control was also very helpful prior to surgery down below under my skirts, although after surgery, I still have kept the same size as I find tight clothing very comfortabe. I still wear same size panties, some ten years post surgery (good feeling for weight control). After surgery I did tend to purchase pantyhose with sewn in cotton crotch, not sure if it is essential, some even often say no panties required with cotton crotch, but I have never worn without panties underneath, I don't think I would find it comfortable.
As I have stated earlier, I do find stockings and garter belt comfortable for all day wear and no band to roll down, but as the colder seasons come in I am leaning towards pantyhose again, so a bit of both
