Hey! Another Floofy question here, seems to be a lot of them.

I'm 183cm (6 feet) and love heels.. But I feel really awkward wearing them because they make me so tall! Fairly short heels very quickly makes me the tallest person at a gathering -so never mind the really high heels!-, even in Norway where lots of people are very tall. I'm sure some of you must be pretty tall too, and share my like for shoes with a bit of heel on them. Do you proudly roll with it, or do you too feel like they make you stand out too much and cant really bring yourself to wear them often?

Thanks for your input everyone :)

I fall in the latter category unfortunately. I'm only 5' 10" but still slightly taller than the average American (5' 9"). This means any heel I wear will make me the tallest person in most any gathering. I stick to flats pretty much all the time.

I am 6' 3" in stockings (no shoes) and therefore I avoid pretty much any heels at all. A 2 inch heel has me scraping my head on the top of a door so I pretty much stick with low heels.

My height is like you. Yes. I get far more attentions with high heels everywhere. But sometimes I enjoy it. In the street or stores, some people try to talk to me by saying I am very tall, even in the U.S.

I'm 5'10"-5'11" so I totally understand where you're coming from.  However, there are lots of tall women so I try not to worry about it.  I too absolutely love wearing heels. I love the way they make my legs look and the fact that they make my feet appear smaller.  I've found that ballet flats, or kitten heels actually accentuate the size of my feet, making it look like I've got battleships for feet.  Taller heels (like 4 inches or higher) actually help shrink the appearance of my feet.

So my suggestion is, go out and rock those heels like a super model.  Enjoy towering above other people, it's kind of fun.  Just be that sexy you that you feel in those shoes and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

Also 5'11 and I wear 3 or 4' heels most of the time. I love the attention I get. Tall women are very much admired these days and I wouldn't give away an inch.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I'll try wearing them some more and not be so concerned about being tall :)

It took me a long time to accept myself completely when it came to this issue cause when I started transition forever ago, I wanted the least amount of attention on me. Now fast forward 6 years later I don't feel the same way. Its more like I've gotten used to all the attention I get, so wearing heels really wouldn't make much a difference. I've been embracing my height more these days than I used to. I enjoy being fem since I naturally  am. Limiting myself now is kind of a punch in the face to my past self who was trying her best not to stand out. So speaking in general (not to any one person in this thread) basically if you enjoy it, do it, push yourself little by little. If not no need to pressure yourself into something you're not comfy with trying to conform.

I learned early on in childhood that "Standing Out" was NOT a good thing. Just made you a target. So when you are 6ft tall in an age and place where the average female was 5'4" and males 5'8"... Not a good idea to be an MTF. Still I tried. With and without heels, still a total fail

Today, I am a shorter. Today I often do wear heels. Usually 3 maybe 4 inches tops. No more Just about any dress shoe has a 3" heel it seems. And flats..... boring. I am still taller then the "Average" male & especially female. As you noted, there are LOTS more taller women these days. and the epitome of female looks (biting tongue) is the "Super Model", otherwise known as a 6ft or more tall stick figure.

I'm 6 foot and LOVE wearing heels. Literally wear them most days!! And by heels I mean the 5-6 inch stilettos and pumps! I definitely felt like you in the past... weird and out of place and like a freak show. But if you think about it, tall women are looked up too and thought to be the most beautiful. Fashion models for example. The women NEED to be tall, because tall women are sexy. Victoria's Secret angels.. what do they have in common? They're tall. I still go through bouts of feeling weird and awkward cause my height, but honestly who cares as long as you're happy!! Just make sure to be confident while wearing them!!! If you look nervous and scared, it's going to show. And that's not cute on anyone!! Strap those heels on, and strut your stuff! The worlds your runway <3

My favorite heel wearer these days is 6'2" Karlie Kloss. She's totally unapologetic about her height and wears it magnificently.

Consider that a modest 3" heel visually reduces your feet size and makes wonders to your gate and posture.
You're taller than the crowd regardless, in heels or not, you cannot change it, but you can embrace a supermodel mindset.
At 6'3", my favorite heels are 3". Anything less is boring, anything more - tough on my feet and doesn't improve my appearance or presentation (I've worn 5"heels, but did not like them).

I'm 6'2 and don't care. I feel great when I'm rockin heels I think my joy comes through and overshadows any awkwardness. It's all in my presentation. That said, I usually stick with 3" kitten type.

I Am Jess

I am 5' 13 1/2" tall and I wear heels almost every day.  I have no problem rocking 3-4 inch heels on a daily basis. They make my size 13 feet look smaller and make my legs look better. Confidence is the key.

Actually... no.  Yes she is tall, and yes of course she wears heels on the runway, but in everyday public life, she does NOT wear heels.  Read for yourself what Karlie really had to say about being tall and wearing heels:

Interesting.

Yes. Regardless of their height, most women do not wear high heels so frequently. I also wear heels for some special events, probably once per week. I mostly wear flat sandals.

I'm 5' 7" and I never wear heels.  Even at my height, I'm already several inches taller than most women (avg American woman is 5' 4").

It's a matter of wearing styles that flatter our figure.  As Karlie said in the People article, tall women look great in high-waisted pants.  They make your long legs look great.  We also look great in boot cut jeans.  And we can wear long length jackets and coats especially well (short girls can't pull off that look).

But heels?  No, I disagree with the majority of the opinions here.  I advise against wearing heels except on special occasions.  Sure, you're free to wear whatever you want, but if you care about fashion and staying on trend, don't do it.

Well.....heels are adorable and fun to wear. Not a lot that gets you feeling more feminine than a pair of cute shoes. So unlike Mirya, I won't forego them always, but the reality is, they're for special occasions. Just look around.  Not a lot of chicks mincing around wally world in stilletos. But every once in a while, you just gotta say to heck with fashion and have some fun. Regardless of your vertical impairment.
