Hi I am new here. I have always thought of myself as feminine. When I was at the tender age of 6 I started wearing my sisters pantys and clothes. When I got older in my teens I wore my mom's dresses and shoes. Pantys, slips, hose. This went on for some 30 years on and off. I had to do it in secrecy. I shaved my legs, buttocks, arms, chest underarms. I liked the smooth feel. When my dad  died in the mid 80's I had to take on the role of man of the house. In this time period I grew a mustage small but modest and for a while I put my feminine side away. Only reasently my feminine side has come out of the closet again. I've shaved my legs chest, arms, buttocks again. I searched the web and came on this site. it has fantastic resoures I've never seen anywere. I will stay here so I can try and sort out my feelings. More and more I want to become a woman but I don't know how to go about it without upsetting my family and friends.

I supposs I should see a therepist. I would like to mabey meet with others that have made the transition to female.

Thanks for listening I know I went on a bit.

Hi Owen,

Let me be the first to welcome you here.  :)  No need to apologize about the length of your post - it's actually somewhat shorter than other people's introductions have been.  ;)  I look forward to hearing more from you as you sort out your thoughts and feelings.  Susan's is definitely a great place to hang out and learn from others.

All the best,
Joseph

Hi, Owen!

Welcome to Susan's!

If you've come here for support, information and understanding you've come to a great place to get it.  I've benefitted alot from reading the forums and the wiki and the library and the links and the  . .   well, you get the idea.  Susan's is a safe place to share and to be who you really are without fear.  Of course, the site rules help keep things safe for you and for everyone else.

A therapist might be a good idea to help you come to grips with your wishes.  While any good therapist can help with things a specialist in gender issues might be a better choice.  There are some sites and links that perhaps will help you find someone near where you live.  I did a Google on Transgender Therapists in Western New York and found my therapist (along with some other good sites) that way.  I just had my third session last Tuesday.

I'll be looking forward to reading your posts in the future.  Don't be shy, ask any questions that you may have.  There are many guys and gals at Susan's at different stages of the journey we're all in and you'll never be lacking for answers.

So, again, WELCOME!

Hi Owen,

Your intro is quite similar to some others that have posted here so it looks like you will be amongst friends. Susan's is a place that you can express that feminine side of yourself and through that self expression explore your feelings and find your path in life.

We are a friendly bunch and always happy to see a new member so welcome Owen to Susan's wonderful place.
