Hey! I have some amazing news today. It turns out that my Step-dad got word that in July we are moving to Brandon Manitoba via Military posting. This is not unexpected but I was wondering if I should go. I am thinking I will for a number of reasons. Manitoba has a much better economy then Ontario at this current time for job prospects plus I can go to college (Assiniboine) and live at home for free during those years. Not to mention Brandon has lots of factory jobs like Maple Leaf and Coca-Cola. I really think this will be a great opprutunity.

In addition tot hat they also have a brand new trans-health clinic to help trans people from pre-transition to post-op. I really would love to have something like that close by so I can see a health provider in that specific field on a regular basis. They also say that Manitobas trans health is the best in Canada. It took me just two months from when i first  moved there until i got estrogen . In Ontario it can take up to a year depending where ya live. It also usurally takes about 2 years from coming out to surgery in Manitobas public system. CAMH in Ontario can take up to 4 years. I  was quite worried, as with a lot of my trans* friends that with election of Brian Pallister and his massive Conservative Party-majoirty would hinder all the work that the province did for the trans health. However, the governing Conservatives seem to actually have no intrest in de-funding or cutting funds and since taking office have seemed actually quite supportive of the provincial health serivces. Even Pallister himself said he supports the idea/plan of making all Provincial bulidings have a gender nuetral bathroom!

I think it be good. Brandon is a city with a trans-clinic, education, jobs and othe rmental health resources. It helps because the past few days I have been doing some soul- searching and come to relize more of why I have self-doubts and am actually finding away to push past them. Good things seem to be coming <3 and I have all of you to thank for being so good to me too during the tough times!

Down here there's talk of defunding planned parenthood because they perform abortions, but a side effect of that would be to hurt trans people who don't have the money for their hormones, as I've heard in addition to helping women with birth control they also help trans women with needed hormones.

Im so sorry. Without getting to political the Conservative Party of Canada and their provincial counter-parts are much more moderate the the American Republican Party and their counterparts. Planned Parenthood is good I dont see why they should be cut

I had a hard weekend, but I am slowly picking myself back up to where I should be and yes, I think this is exactly what the DR ordered

  It sound like just what the doctor ordered lol. It sounds like it could be very good for you for all the reasons you talked about. Perhaps I'll move to Canada too.
   With our current administration/ congress/ and judicial bodies here things look bleek for the trans community. I believe we are in for a setback.
   Even here in Oregon (we have a more progressive governing body and a lesbian governor) we seem to be seeing an increase in hostilities. Just the other day someone scrawled a death threat against gays in a local high school bathroom.

  I hope you get all you hope for if you do make the move. I think it could be really beneficial for you also.

  I'm just south of Portland.  Portland is known to be LGBTQ friendly among other special internists. Their motto is "Keep Portland Weird"  But I was surprised at how few LGBTQ support groups I could find online. I expected more.

  We do have an SRS surgeon here and insurance companies are requires to provide trans services though. I guess that's something.

Coolio!! I have wanted to visit the US for a long time. Especially Arizona. But yes, the poltiical climate i just don think i can handle at this point of time. If I want to escape old man winter i will just go to Victoria British Columbia

Nice! I am originally from Victoria British Columbia. I love the North West region!! so amazing

Plus, in positives for Portland, they have Reed College, which is very friendly to all kinds of people. Our son went there and experienced many mind opening events. I sort-of came out to him last weekend, and he told the tale of a grand cross dressing ball they had there. His best friend wore a skirt, heels, and a very male tank top, with clown face makeup, and won the prize for best gender queer. Recommended college for many reasons, but especially for those who are a little more open.
