I always find it funny though. The more right wing and extreme a candiate is the more they seem to get a chance of winning. I mean like Trump and the 2016 GOP was without question the most openly hositle campaign agaisnt minorities and the most anti-lgbt ever. I mean, Mitt Romney may have not of been the best person for lgbt but I doubt he would have hosted this much hatred in his cabinet picks and he generalllya voided any heated rhrtoric. Same goes with Bob Dole too. In Canada, the one election we had a fundy who was anti-lgbt in like every regard was in 2000. Canadians back then punished him and his party. The Alliance only wom like 65 seats . They couldnt win Manitoba which is part of the Conservative west and a province any regular Conservative should win in a normal year, only got two seats in Ontario and absolutley no support east of Ontario.

I'll go ahead. I may lean pretty right on issues sometimes, but let me get this out...

The GOP isn't even interested in the idea of Canadian or other conservatives!

The American GOP doesn't appreciate conservatism anywhere else, in fact.

I feel like my parents party preference has been embedded in me for so long that I can't "shake it"

I don't like talking to my dad, because sometimes It's Like talking about politics to an ogre.

Why are they so hard to change? I can't even believe the idea anymore that Democrats were the party of Jim Crow etc. I feel so good, I wish one day I can openly rebel against my parents view.

I think it's the television.  It seems like few people on either side of the political divide think for themselves.  Most watch their one news program to be told what to think and then reinforce it with their one or two sole internet news sources.  They never critically verify or research any claim.

Conform and be dull. —James Frank Dobie, The Voice of the Coyote
Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being....  - Dan Barker

Well, Canadian conservatism is far friendler then Americans version, still, the issue is your moderates dont punish the GOP when they run extreme candiate. To be honest, I thought Hilary was going to win and win big. Like, almost as big as Lyndon Johnson in 1964. Not because people liked her, because very few seemed to have been fond of her. But rather, her opponent is one of the.. well going on I would either get smitted or have the thread locked but you get my point. Growing up I was a strong, wait let me back that up and re-say STRONG supporter of the Canadian Conservative party. Then I just somehow changed, and went to the other end and became a memeber of the New Democratic party. Now? Im not sure, I am just an independent with strong social progressive views, fairly conservative fiscal veiws and I still veiw a need for unions. It will take time, but try to sort out one issue at a time!

This website is apolitical!

In reference to U.S. Politics, it is neither Republican or Democrat, a fact that does not make either side happy.

Here are the conditions of engaging in political discussions on this web site.

You are free to discuss issues, policies, and actions of the political parties and politicians; the repercussion of those issues, polices, and actions; you are even free to say if you personally feel those said issues or actions are, or are not transgender or LGBTI friendly.

What you are not free to do is to paint all members of a political party with a broad brush, especially when you are using derogatory terms of any kind. You also may not criticize how someone chooses to vote, or which political party someone decides to support. Lastly no one is allowed to engage in bashing or flaming against another even if that person is Donald Trump.

We are glad to allow members to engage in civil discussions, but if you let it get out of hand we will shut it down. Not out of a bias towards one side or another but to ensure that this website remains a supportive environment for everyone.

We also prefer that the political discussion here is limited to those issues that directly affect the Transgender and LGBTI communities, as there are better web sites that allow for the discussion of more broad based political topics.

Are we clear?
