Hi!
so I was thinking, I've been on HRT for 20 days now, finasteride and estradiol, and there have been 3 changes so far:
1st: I seem to be more emotional and at peace with myself.
2nd: a certain male part doesn't work anymore (hasn't given life signs in the last week or so)
3rd and most important one at the moment, I happen to have the hunger of an entire battalion,  to give you some more info, I'm 5'7" and I used to weight exactly 108lbs (and I had this exact weight no matter what for no less than 12 years).

now, after a week of extreme hunger and eating like there's no tomorrow I'm at 112.5lbs or so, I don't know where I read that it was a good thing to gain weight, but isn't it too early for that? I mean, the new "mass" is still gonna go to a male config right? or just what's going on? I surely didn't expect anything to happen in the first month, and while I really like the idea of having a little more "me" I don't want it to be male me, that's just gross.

sooo... what do you think? did you gain weight too when you began HRT? should I try to control myself when it comes to food?

Since you are underweight now then whatever weight you do gain can only be good.  Four pounds in a week though is probably just a lot of water being retained.

I got extremely hungry hen I started HRT as well.  Still have it now at a little over 6 months.  Ruined my diet.  I am now using myfitnesspal to help curb the eating.  I get X calories per day, with extra for exercise, an then stop.  It is hard to do, so I needed to increase the Veggies as the fiber is a bit more filling and longer lasting.  It's hard work, and sometimes makes me cranky because I can't eat anymore and am still hungry.

You can also talk to your regular Doctor about ways to get around that feeling.

As far as the hunger, I did not notice becoming hungrier on HRT.  But in my case I was already always hungry anyway.  Like Artesia I used MyFitnessPal and eventually lost over 40 lbs.  But I started from a place where I needed to lose it anyway.

One thing I have learned recently that will reduce hunger a lot is to eliminate sugar from the diet and to switch macros around so carbs are very low and fat very high.

Me talking to My Dr about the implant of an Oestrogen Pellet

"So what are the main side effects I can expect from the implant"

My Dr smiling

"Putting on around 3-4 kg(6-10 pounds)"

My weight's been pretty up and down since I started HRT, started at 80.5kg, dropped to 78, then steadily went back to 80kg.
Appetite has changed in a big way, but I'm mostly calm now. I try to control myself, not too good at it though xD

I see... it's just that my dr. doesn't tell me that kind of stuff, the downsides of living in a very small city...

maybe it's just water retention, but I don't see where it is, I don't look different or swollen or anything, but for real, the pills are making me so hungry, I don't usually eat the amounts I've been eating lately, it's like double, almost triple of what my portions used to be.

but you're right, I'm so underweight that whatever I get is good.

I started at 90kg, after 2 months I was 85.5kg without changing anything I was doing at 90kg except using the lowest does of E patches and Spiro. Within 3 weeks I am 87kg now after using half the standard does of both. So weight seems to move around a lot for me and I am already think it is time to do more nightly walks :/

I was underweight as well.  I was 5'10" and 120 pounds.  I'm up to 142 now.  I became ravenously hunger and coupled with a slowed metabolism from my testosterone dropping lead to weight gain.  But honestly us skinny chicks probably need to gain some weight after starting hrt.  Gotta fill those areas out.
