I use prescription painkillers, and I find that watching TV shows on my phone is a helpful distraction. The first few pokes are the worst but eventually my brain tunes it out because it's focused on the story.

So if laser get rids of the dark hairs and leave the lighter pigmented hair, wouldn't that still be a good start and leave less work for electrolysis?  Isn't getting rid of the dark hair also helpful because they show up more than the lighter hair?

Paige :)

So, two points on that:

1.  Laser will not get rid of all dark hair.  Some of it will be lessened, but return.  Some of it will be removed for good.
2.  The wrong laser will not work --period.  Do your homework on the lasers out there and make sure the laser being used is one that actually works on beard hair.

Long story short, and from my experience, laser will kill some, and perhaps much, of the dark hairs.  But not all.  Some will regrow and you will still need electro on them.  IMHO, yes, laser is worth it on the dark ones if you want a quick fix (and, well, heck, who doesn't? :) ), but if you have time, your money may be better spent on just doing electro.  To each their own.

What type of electrolysis are you getting? My first experience with Thermolysis was absolutely barbaric. I had my entire upper lip and under lower lip done in a two hour session. I looked like Marge Smpson for three days. Bad experience.

I now get blend which is much better. I also tried a different electrologist for thermolysis and that machine and her technique seemed much better.

I am getting thermolysis.  But, my lip was not as dense because I had laser first.  But, yes, it hurts and makes my face swell in the areas that are treated.  My aesthetist is aware of that and sensitive to that, so she moves around and avoids heavy work in one area.  She told me that she was worried about the metal in my neck (I had my c5-c6 fused) and thermolysis was best for me.

Both Blend and Galvanic modality utilize Direct Current. DC flows from probe through the body via path of least resistance to a ground rod and back to the epilator. If there is metal in the body anywhere between the two points, the current will search out the metal to use during its path.

I had my doctor wrote a script for a triple caine cream that I had made at a compounding pharmacy, it is much stonger than any over the counter cream.

20%Benzocaine, 10% lidocaine and 10% tetracaine

It will numb you up similar to an injection at the Dentist. I put it on the areas to be treated an hour beforehand and immediately cover it in plastic wrap until the procedure to keep it moist and working. It will last a few hours, I always do two hour appointments. I also used it on the genital area when I had that done. Last time I had it made it was about $60 for 45 grams.
I originally searched online for the strongest triple cream I saw advertised to get the ratios, hope this h[/b]elps!

IIm going to see if my Doctor can get the pharmacy to prescribe that ?
im getting okay results now with the Tramadol and current cream but those extra percentages
will help Im sure 😃
Thanks😃😃😃😃😃😃

I Have had about 4 hours of work on my top lip all with dental injections....the injections were unpleasant but lasted no more than a minute and enabled the tech to work really quickly....she dealt with only the Grey unfortunately this person was also ripping me off by using IPL when she claimed it was Medical Grade Laser. Even though I was very numb I was able to feel her tugging on a number of the hairs...I would have no more than about 10 minutes of greys to remove now from my top lip but due to the IPL I am basically at exactly the same point I was at, when I stopped going to my regular laser place and went to her.

I have since gone back to the original place and had my 9th treatment from them and my top lip will be looking really good after this one has shed...most of the visible hairs are swollen after 5 days which is an excellent sign...they are not visible to the naked eye....that how few I have left...maybe a hundred hairs, if that, for my entire lip mainly black and will be just about all gone in another 9 days.

I get facial lignocaine injections (not dental) for my Electrolysis...what a relief
