Hi all. I've seen that others have gotten insurance coverage for genital electrolysis in preparation for gender surgery. Does anyone  have an insurance code that can be used for this?

I'm sorry, I don't have the information you are looking for but I figured this was as good as any place to ask.

My understanding not all surgeons require/request this but if they do, can you explain what specifically they typically request to be removed?  I'm going through facial hair removal right now, is electrolysis around the genitals as painful and time consuming as it sound or am I missing something?

Staci,
It would probably be best to follow what your surgeon recommends. I was told about follicle scrapping done by some surgeons. My surgeon said it is time consuming thus increasing the time under anesthesia. That is not a good thing. As for pain, I do numbing cream and can do 2 hours at a time without much trouble. Others have different pain tolerances, and methods for getting it done.

Thanks Moni, I didn't mean to derail your thread but it was something I was curious about...I'm a bit away yet, but something I'll need to be educated about eventually.
