Hi, my name is Harley. I'm 23, and finally decided to start my transition. I made an appointment to get my initial consult for testosterone about a month ago. My appointment is scheduled for April 24th. I'm going with informed consent via Planned Parenthood in Raleigh, NC. I've researched tons but still I'm a bit anxious about the whole process because I want to start T asap. I was in the military less than a year ago so I know I have no serious medical conditions that should prevent me from starting.

I guess I just need advice about how the whole process works. Or I would like to know if any of you have went to the Planned Parenthood in Raleigh. I know everyone's story is different but I'd love to hear yours.

Also any advice on top surgery fundraising, I started a GoFundMe but haven't really pulled in much progress.

I didn't go through PP, but the clinic I go to is also informed consent based. I went in for my first appointment and met with a doctor, reviewed my medical history, discussed T in depth, etc. She gave me a consent form to read over and sent me out for lab work. A few weeks later I came back, we reviewed the lab work, went over the consent form one more time, signed it, and I got my prescription. I started on gel, but when I switched to injections a few months after that I also got a drop-in appointment with a nurse to learn how to self inject.

I don't think anybody has success with GoFundMe/online fundraising. If that's the route you feel compelled to go down, I wouldn't try to raise the full amount of your surgery costs. I would try to raise half. People are more likely to donate if they see that you are putting in an equal share of the effort to meet the costs.

Depending on your life circumstances also, you could look into working with companies that cover surgery. Starbucks, Apple, Target, etc. all offer trans inclusive healthcare benefits.

Welcome to the site.

FTMax has some of the best advice for guys here.

As a warning we do not allow members to post funding links. Sorry it has been a challenge and good luck.

I am going to move this topic from a general transgender topic to one specific to testosterone HRT.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to look through them, please take a moment:
