I'm planning GRS with a local surgeon, and I'm absolutely terrified. I'm worried about things getting wrong, or if I'll get denied. I also have a lot of other irrational fears like having HIV or some incurable disease like that. Is it normal to be this nervous? How do I stop myself from going insane? Please help!  :'( :embarrassed:

Welcome to Susan's Place. If you have done your homework on selecting a surgeon, there should be very little that can go wrong. On the other hand, this advice is coming from one of the biggest balls of nerves on the site. I had voice surgery about a year and a half ago and while they were prepping me for surgery, I needed to use the bathroom and everything including my previous night's dinner came out. For now, talking with your therapist would be a good option but other than that, stay busy. The less time you allow for your mind to wander, the less you will think about it. Read a book, prepare for surgery, visit with friends or any other activity to keep from thinking about surgery.

You probably should see a psychiatrist if you are going insane.

Welcome to Susan's. You can have a HIV test and get the results in 15 minutes.

Things can go wrong but the chance for anything major to go wrong are low if you go to an experienced GCS surgeon. I had thoughts of what it's too, it is natural.

Why would you have HIV? If that's something your scared of it's called a Condom. Also idk why everyone is nervous about getting GRS. If I was getting it I would be counting the days. They knock you out and give you meds afterwards.  nothing to be nervoous about.

Like others said, seek a therapist.

Hey Tsaritsa,

All will be well :) ... It is sadly, part of our nature to take unknowns in the things we think about and insert our worst fears there... Keep your perspective and concentrate on your goal... I always found my mind swirling with different worries before procedures and by the last week or two before, I'd be so tired of the worrying, I would just be thinking " Let's do this thing already!!! "

You'll do fine!!!! :)

Onward we go brave sister!!!!

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸

Probably because it is the biggest surgery a transwoman will ever have.....

I have heard of TS who were the classic case of ''I knew when I was 2'' be atleast a little nervous about the surgery. Still, the best thing they ever did but it make sense to have nerves running around

I personally can not wait until I move and can actually plan for GRS
