Anyone with a thought on name change on a marriage certificate? I was married in Georgia. The name on the license is still the old name. I assume I am still married, but I don't know if I should worry about trying to change it to my now legal name.

I believe that the combination of the marriage license and the court order for name change together are sufficient for most purposes, but I'm not a lawyer. I wasn't planning to change mine on the license.

My wife's maiden name is on our marriage license (Commonwealth of Virginia) and she changed it after, so it seems like it would be the same for me (or you).  Although, we're thinking about having a new ceremony with two brides,  ;D,  after which maybe we'll change ours.

Some jurisdictions do issue revised marriage certificates.  But, in general, the combination of an original document with the old name and a legal name change document is always valid.

Same-sex marriages are still legal in the US.  If that changes, and the change is retroactive, than your status may change, but for now I think you are still married no matter what name is on the certificate.
