I have thin hair and I'm using this shampoo and conditioner:



I'm considering getting the hair mask too but I'm not sure how to optimally use it. I know that, for instance, conditioner should not be applied to the scalp but only to the ends, and should be used after shampoo in order to restore some of the natural oils that shampoo eliminates. But I have no clue what a hair mask is for or how to use it. I want to get it because I expect I'd maximise the thickening effect of the products by using them all.

Can anybody give me a quick hairmask 101?

Hair mask is kind of like a super conditioner.  I work it into my hair, put one of those little plastic caps on like you use for hair color, and let it sit for an hour or so.  It makes my hair super soft.
