In the last 6 months I have noticed that there is a far greater amount of material on TV about the T community both on cable and free to air here in Oz.
Quite a few on pre teen children making early life decisions and the difficulties it causes. Some parents accept while others dont which is hard to watch.
How I wish I could have made the same choice that early when I knew. Also a few shows highlighting minorities such as Tiwi Islanders going to the Sydney Mardi Gras on Aunty.

Anyone else noticed this and is it good or bad?
I think more exposure show just how many of us there are and it seems to be getting bigger but still not sold on it being a good thing as it is such a difficult path to walk, especialy in heels.

In the U.K. I find it varies from channel to channel how trans people are represented.
The BBC have been terrible 🙁 and we're forced to pay a licence for the pleasure. They go under the guise of being progressive but at every turn they take the opportunity to misrepresent the trans community for sensationalist viewing. It feels that they are on a mission to turn the public against anything trans. I thought about complaining but I suspect that's exactly the reaction they want.
Props to channel 4 though, they have been amazing.

Greater exposure certainly helped me to come out by reducing the 'freakiness' factor.  It is a double-edged sword, though.  The greater exposure has prompted a backlash of oppressive legislation in various places in the US, and even in our own Canadian Senate.

One benefit of greater exposure is I now know I'm not alone.  When I was a kid, wanting to wear what my sisters did, I thought something was wrong with me and was terrified someone would find out.  If I'd known there were other kids like me, things could have been a lot different.

Now a days its easier for more girls to come out because of the internet and media. Over the last even 5 years there has been major changes to pave the way for girls like us. Caitlyn Jeener, Laverne Cox and many others are in the spot light opening peoples eyes to our lives. I think its great that so much material exists now.

When I grew up there was barley colour TV and we listened to 8 track tapes for pete sake. Nobody understood what we required and it was totally shunned. Now there is outlets every where for those in need.

Iam happy how society is starting to open up and accept us but then again CIS women are still fighting for equal rights and acceptance to...

Do I hear a feminist in my voice. You bet.
