I had my first appointment with the HBHC in Chicago this afternoon. It was a good experience overall but the process seemed like a whirlwind in the moment. I sat down with a nurse and went over some basic information & vitals, then met with my prescribing doctor to discuss my goals & expectations with hrt, as well as side effects, informed consent, and a few other details. Then it was off to the lab for blood work, and finishing up signing off on paperwork and going over my beginning regimen. They have a Walgreens pharmacy on site so I got to fill up a 90 day prescription before heading out the door. I took my first dose after dinner just a little while ago!
Up and away and off I go to lose my mind and find my soul.

Thanks so much everyone! It's been such a huge weight off my chest to finally get started on this part of my transition. I feel so much more at ease about my transition after taking just the first dose and this milestone just feels so right. Everything felt surreal when I made it home last night and had a minute to process the fact that I finally had two fistfuls of medication that would start to make the changes that I've actively desired for years. I stared at those bottles all throughout dinner wondering if it was the right move for me to start HRT, but as my anticipation built I knew I had the answer to that question. No going back now!
Up and away and off I go to lose my mind and find my soul.

I know exactly what you mean.  At the time I decide to get HRT I thought that I would be able to take them for awhile and I could stop before changes became irreversible if I got cold feet. However, I never really thought about taking my meds once I received them.  I knew taking them was what I wanted to do, that it felt right and I was not going to stop.  the energizer bunny is still going strong.

  Congrats again Rambler. Enjoy.

Hugs,
   Jeanette

Well done, it is such a huge relief getting on HRT.
I felt so relaxed and destressed as soon as I got on
