Hello, I have been around the site reading for a while but first time posting. I am going to be starting HRT next week if all goes off without a hitch. Super nervous, like I had to talk myself up into going to the doctor, it feels great to know I have finally started the process but its doing nothing for my nerves. Has anybody else gone through similar things?

I remember when I first started to call up my doctor to start HRT.  I was super nervous and it took me weeks to gain enough courage to finally setup the appointment.  I was anxious the day I went in, but it was a pretty painless process.  I signed a novel's worth of precautions and got my prescription for all my meds...  I think you will be fine.  Remember,  all the fear and anxiety is only in your head

Welcome and congratulations.

We all get nervous when we start this journey.  It is a voyage into the unknown, after all, one that will be literally life-changing.  But that's the point.

Yea, just a lot of emotions difficult to process them all. It helps to read others experiences for me, and I'm still sort of in panic mode, just feels like everything is going super fast.

The only thing to fear is fear itself.

You say you are anxious, in a good way or bad?  If it's just nerves, you're going to be fine.

One thing my Dr told me was the medications (Spiro and e.v.) were both designed for a different propose.  It's the side effects that we WANT!  Kinda strange.

Welcome to Susan's Place!

That first visit to the doctor is a bit unnerving, but it usually goes very well. Doctors are professionals, and are used to hearing little surprises from their patients, so there really isn't anything to fear.  You're going to be fine!

* We'd like to get to know you!  Try posting a little bit about yourself in a new topic just for yourself, over in our Introductions forum. Tell us your story, how you came to join our family, life lessons learned, and tell us what makes the world a special place for you.

* If you have questions on hormone replacement therapy, you will get the best response to your questions by asking them over in our Hormone Replacement Therapy forum for our transitioning members.

I hope you feel welcome here.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to take a look, please take a moment to go through them.

Yea, I tend to let my fear get the better of me sometimes.  And yes, i am anxious in both good and bad ways, real mix of emotions going on in my head.
Huh, I only have a very basic knowledge of the medications used in HRT im sure the MD im seeing will go over all that with me as well id hope.

Oh gosh, I was so nervous!  "Was this what I wanted?  I have lasted this long without transitioning, maybe I'm not sure.  Is this really dysphoria?"  Basically, I was doubting myself out of fear of what others would think.  Then after starting HRT and getting some relief I realized how bad my dysphoria was.  I never realize how extreme it was until some of it was alleviated.  Needless to say, it was the best thing I ever did.  Nervousness and anxiety is normal, this is a huge step and I am excited for you!
