I work primarily on the phones. I'm talking to people 8 hours a day. So my voice is really important... only it hasn't seemed to drop almost any. I was so excited because it was so deep yesterday, and I was like great! I don't feel sick or anything so it must be deepening! I was apparently wrong. I woke up today, unable to even talk so I had to call in.
My roommate (who is also trans) was like, "I knew you were sick! Your voice couldn't have gotten that deep overnight." Which was kind of rude, imo.

I've watched countless videos on Youtube and everyone's voices were way deeper than mine at this point. Needless to say, I am a little bummed. I was just curious to see like, when everyone else's voices were passing and what you did until then.

(If you're interested, my Instagram account where I keep my voice recordings is lvlingup)

My voice didn't start stabilising and sounding completely male (even on the phone)  until around 6 months on T. When before one day it would sound low and almost male and the next day it would sound like there was almost no change in the deepness of my voice. You're probably tired of hearing this but T effects all people differently and it just takes patience unfortunately. Until I reached the 6 month mark I simply tried to talk in a more monotone quieter way so my voice breaking and sqeuking wasn't so obvious.
They/them pronouns preferred.

Williamspace,

If you wake up and are unable to talk, something else is going on. Like a throat infection, maybe. You need to be examined by a physician. Your roommate is not rude, he is just concerned about you. Be thankful for that!

I myself was under the influence of T for over 50 years and I never developed a deep masculine voice. In fact I was routinely criticized for having a soft voice. For me, this was just as well. I have not had any voice surgery and my voice sounds very androgynous, which is just fine with me.

I got ma'amed on the phone the other day o.O took me by surprise, I guess they dont assume 16 year old boys call about activating boostmobile phones or something.

I started passing voicewise around 3-4 months when my voice dropped, and my face was apparently more masculine so I think both matter quite a bit when passing. The voicedrop will happen gradually and is usually deepest in morning, so you're right about getting excited about that. I actually woke up one morning and it sounded deeper, and it gets higher in the day. At least that's how I think it works, in my experience that's what happened.

Anyways I have IG so I'll probably hit you up on that offer and comment on how youre doing

My voice was pretty low pre-T, so a few months on T and it passed just fine. I'd recommend watching and doing tutorials for how to speak from your chest. Another hang up for people is sometimes speech patterns, inflection, etc. Female socialized speech patterns and vocal mannerisms are very different from male ones, at least in the west.

I had a low enough voice before as well along with a pretty prominent adam's apple. (Enough that my Dr thought i had a thyroid problem or something... Lol!) I started on a really low dose but gradually went up to a normal dose so it took a bit, but now I definitely sound exactly like my brother and my dad enough that people mistake us for each other on the phone and such. As always its YMMV but you've still got time for your voice to deepen, I'm sure. Men's voices continue changing past puberty, though not to the same degree so hey. :P

Just saw your counter after posting this, yeah you've definitely got time. xD

I use a voice analyzer / guitar tuner to find and maintain my pitch.  My target is F3  and about 170 htz.  Yours may differ depending on your normal voice.

Funny my doctor questioned the same thing before dismissing it, lol

I have been on T for 1 month, 9 days, so I know I'm being impatient about mine.

So far, I've noticed that my voice will sound hoarse or scratchy sometimes. Sometimes, I think it really is deeper. Sometimes, it's like there's been almost no change. Whenever I open my mouth, I have no idea what's going to come out. The randomness and uncertainty make it really hard sometimes.

It seems like my voices goes lower the longer I talk. Like it gradually drops over the course of using it. Then it snaps back after I've been quiet for a while. Could be my imagination.
