Ignoring important areas of my life

Hi, I am m2f trans early in transition and have just started on hormones. I worry that because of my gender dysphoria I have neglected other areas of my life. For example I have a dog who I love very much but I don't feel like I am available to him mainly emotionally and I feel very guilty because of this. It seems like I have been in a way debilitated by my dysphoria since realizing I identify as a woman and this is why I have found it so difficult to focus on other areas of my life I used to focus on before realizing I was trans. Anyone relate?

Yes.  That was one reason I started HRT 6 months ago.  Things have evened out and as time goes on it gets better.  Love your dog. Give them a hug as their love is absolute and they don't judge you.

Thank you this helps. I'm sure it will even out for me too. This is just what I need to do for myself and my own happiness.

Dogs are loyal and they don't care what you are.
Just feed them dog food and go for a walk daily and they love you no matter what!

As for other areas, you need to work things out to your satisfaction. Remember transition only changes about 3 % of your body. The rest is going to remain the same until you change it. All the other things like a job, clothes, personal appearance and human relationships are up to you. From my personal experience, they are all equally important.

I was acquainted with a man who was alcoholic with trans issues. She went through transition without dealing with the alcohol issues. She still has alcohol issues. That part did not change because she felt the trans issues were more important and made no attempt to correct the alcohol issue.

What we all need to do is identify all the issues holding us back and address the problems to our satisfaction. Not someone else's satisfaction, but our own. It may seem overwhelming at first, but if you deal with each issue one at a time, before you know it, you are all OK and good to go.

Best wishes and good luck!

If you just started hormones, you will be finding your emotions very soon. You know, like that first wave that hits you at the beach.
I have run a marathon away from trans thoughts, I have proceeded with transition still with those thoughts. I am convinced the only way to stop the thoughts is to finish what needs to be finished. Then maybe I can move on. Good luck to you!
