So let's start with my problem.

I'm Blond...

So I have gone to multiple laser places in town and got very mixed answers. Two flat out said they would not do it, a different one said they would but it may not get all of it and a third (which from talking to people seems slightly shonky) said it would be fine and work perfectly.

Iv been lead to believe Alexandrite (don't quote me on the spelling) will work on blonds?? Anyone had experience with this??

But I also can't seem to find anywhere Adelaide that uses them..

It seems my other option is electrolysis but that seems like an incredibly costly path to go down.

So basically any RL experiences would be appreciated because I don't want to just throw money away on something if it won't work.

There is blond and there is blond. If your hair tend to be brownish, it might absorb enough light for laser to work but the operator will need to determine that. If your hair tends to be white, laser will probably be useless. Gray hair, even though it has some color will not absorb enough light for laser to work so most likely you are looking at a good deal of electrolysis.

As for how much it will cost, it depends on the density of your facial hair. If you are lucky had have few hairs, it might not be as costly as you think. It took me about 200 hours to clear my face but I had many fine hairs mostly on the upper lip and the goatee area.

I live here in Adelaide and as far as I know the only way to be rid of grey and blond hair is by Electrolysis. The cost of which varies greatly as does the skill of the technicians. I originally saw a young woman for electrolysis and she was really good but $180 per hour...I left her for $120 per hour Technician with 25 years experience...she did 6 hours work on me and I could feel her pulling the hairs on countless occasions....She was also giving me "Medical Grade Laser" which turned out to be IPL. So I went back to my more expensive tech and get injections from my Dr....the recovery is always far quicker and I don't have scaring from her like I did with the cheaper Tech.

I asked many places about laser and my greys but none would tell me they could deal with it. I have been having a mixture of Laser and Electrolysis for over a year now and I am probably about 4 hours away from being in matinenenace mode with Electrolysis and I am having my last laser session next week . There is barely enough now for a proper session and each time my Electrologist clears an area she takes what few black hairs are there along with the greys so the supply is dwindling rapidly.

Let me know if I can help with anything else...

 Hi Tammy,

I am also a blond, grew up a toe head and it never really change though I was looking forward to being a brunette.
I'm sure I've gotten grey but if I did it is so light I would still call it blond. All I have heard it that laser will not work well it at all on blond or light hair. So I skipped that idea completely. I went with what I know will work. I start electrolysis on Thursday.

Liz: 180/hour? I'm going to be paying 101.67/hr AusD or 75/hr. US dollars. Now you've got me worried. It sounds like I'm getting a too good deal. Thursday I guess I'll see how good...

Hugs,
   Laurie

@ElizabethK

Clearly I need to do more research because most places Iv tried want around $350 an hour.

If I can find somewhere under $200 I'll be happy.

WOW $350 an hour for Electrolysis... that is way more that I have or do pay and my Laser at most was costing me $105 per session and now cost half that as they take half the time to do now. Happy to give you the name of my Laser and Electrolysis person...I can send you a private message with the details if you would like?
