Hi girls, I had Forehead III done 6 weeks ago and I'm overall pretty happy but one side is still jutting out. It's better than it was but I was expecting no more bossing at all. It is still a bit numb on that side. Is it possible it is still a bit swollen? Anyone else have this issue? I expected much better resultsat this point but would like to see what othes have experienced. Thanks! JuJu

It was recontoured to be more feminine. I had an overhanging brow, which is a male gender marker.

Its most likely the swelling I think too... they say you have to give it at least 2-3 months for the swelling to become more or less what the final shape is.. 6 months - 1 year for the 'final results'... and THEN even longer for some!  Don't want to discourage you, but give it time.

In the end, contact your physician if you're still concerned, hopefully they have a revision policy in place.. but you need to give yourself time to heal at first (Which I'm sure they'll probably also tell you)

I had type 1 done, and am pretty happy overall with my results. (Dr. Cardenas).  Plus some other ffs work.

Hey Jujubee... The forehead can take a long time to de-swell from type 111... At six weeks the bone should just be reaching the point of being healed but there can be swelling that remains for a while... You said it is better so it sounds like things are moving in the right direction so keep giving it time... I wouldn't worry too much about it being on one side more than the other... Is it by chance the side you sleep on?

Healing from stuff like this always offers plenty of chances to worry about stuff so just keep giving it time... If by chance though you do see swelling increasing... I would check with your surgeon for sure to make sure the frontal sinus ducts are draining ( yup ... I had an issue with that!)

Onward we go brave sister!!!

Hi Jujubee,

Can I ask which surgeon did u go to? I am 13 months postop from my forehead surgery and not very happy. Initially when there was swelling I was quite happy as everything looked very smooth and round. But as swelling went down(especially in the middle/upper forehead, I started noticing browridge in the lower forehead. I can post pics if you want too in case we went to the same surgeon.

Thanks

Type III.  To me that calls for forehead reconstruction, not just burring down the brow bone.  It was a major consideration for me in selecting a surgeon to correct my bossing.  Many surgeons with whom I consulted said they can do Type III foreheads without osteotomy (removing and setting back the anterior wall of the frontal sinus) the way Drs. Spiegel (Boston), Demaggio (Buenas Aires), Deschamps-Braly (San Francisco), and Facial Team (Marbella) do.  Some I talked to said they do not X-ray or CT scan the forehead beforehand to see if the brow bone is thick enough to get by with burring alone.  Those who burr the bone go as far as they can and stop before perforation even if it means not removing all of the bossing present.  Then they use bone filler to round out and smooth the forehead.  Too often the patient ends up with a less than ideal forehead contour.

I selected a surgeon who did a full forehead reconstruction, and I'm so glad I did.  The CT scan shows a thick brow bone covering the frontal sinus cavity on the right side, but a thin bone on the left side.  Had I settled for burring alone, I would not have achieved the forehead contour I did.

I'm also curious as to who did your forehead, Jujubee.

Hi . I know exactly what you mean . I went to Dr Cardenas and with the swelling, I loved my forehead.. it was so smooth and round. Then as the swelling went down, everything was different. So when I go for surgery with Dr z next month..I'm gonna tell him I like the swelled forhead look lol

Just sent you a PM. I think we did go to the same surgeon. Why is this whole process so hard? We should pool our resources and start a one stop shop  that's good and reasonably priced with the best ffs surgeons.

Wednesday

As others pointed, 6 weeks is *way too soon* to make any assessment.

Post-operatory edema and swelling may take well up to 6 months (and in some cases up to the year) to fully solve. Although the 3 month mark (and you are just halfway) is usually considered to give a rather accurate view on what your final result would be, this *may not* be your case.

My nose still looked pretty bad due to swelling after 3 months. Even after 6 months things wasn't quite there. Took almost a year to fully solve, and the difference turned out to be really obvious.

Also, Type III is a pretty straightforward procedure, I doubt you got a poor result, just give it time, and try not to obsess much (I know its easy to say).

Hey Hon,
I Just read this thread. I had no idea you had surgery so recently. You gotta wai!!. It takes months and sometimes up to a year for your swelling to go down. You have to be patient.
Really.......be......patient. No Dr. worth a grain of salt would touch you this soon after surgery. I think this time next year you'll see you needed patience, nothing more. Stop and take a deep breath. 2 months healing for forehead surgery is only a beginning. I don't know how else to say this......coooooooooool....your.......jets!!!!!  Hugs, Lisa

Honestly I'd have to agree, swelling will go down! What helps me is those before/after pics taken at the same angle.  Its alot easier to see what changed.  Looking at your face every day now your brain 'tricks' you into thinking things are the same as before, and most assuredly they are not.

Please be patient.  Let time heal your wounds :)

You're probably still swollen.

You know a lot of cis women have some brow bossing. No one thinks they look like men. You have to take the forehead in context with the rest of the face.

I have a pretty feminine forehead. But without makeup no one would think I'm a woman due to my nose. So it's all  about how the features work together
