Got kind of a cool little bit of affirmation yesterday. I went to a shopping party at Charming Charlie with some ladies from work. One of them had invited me while at church and said her daughter was bringing her so we setup a time to meet at the shop. When I met up with them, not only was her daughter with them but also her 5 year old granddaughter. They introduced me to little Rose and she was so cool, didn't miss a beat. She got all excited when she saw I had my finger nails painted so I pointed out to her that they matched her coat. She got all bubbly and said "Ooh Pink, that's my favorite color" to which I replied, "Mine too" and she high-fived me. We all talked for a few more minutes and at no point did little Rose exhibit any discomfort or confusion, no mis-gendering, nothing.
Now I know, young kids tend to be the most accepting but at the same time they also have no filter. I've already had a friend's 6 year old ask "Mommy, why is that man wearing girls clothes". So to have this little girl react so naturally and so friendly (along with her mom who was super cool too) was just a really nice affirmation yesterday.
