So today, I came out to my father. He lives in Alaska so I called him on the phone. A rough transcript of the conversation follows:
Me: Hey, Dad, there's something I really want to talk to you about.
Him: What's that?
Me: Ummmm, well, I'm nervous.....
Him: Are you wanted by the FBI?
Me: No......
Him: Then you have nothing to worry about. There's no judgment here.
Me: Okay, well then, I guess I'll just say it then.... Dad, I'm transgender.
****Silence****
Him: Yeah.
Me: Yeah?
Him: Yeah, I know.
Me: You... wait, what? You knew?
Him: Yeah, I've known for a long time. I didn't want to say anything until you felt safe enough to tell me yourself though. I'm glad you finally did. I loved having you as a son and I will love having you as a daughter too.

The rest of the conversation was just talking about hormones and telling him my new name and everything, but WOW. I am literally on cloud 9 right now. I can't even begin to describe how elated and wonderful I feel right now. I am the luckiest girl in the world, with the best dad in the world, and I am so thankful that he reacted so well. I know lots of trans people who's families do not react nearly so well and I know how lucky I am to have won the family lottery. I just had to come on here and share this amazing news with everyone!

That's great! I'm so happy for you! My parents didn't even act quite as well about it when I said it.. and they knew something was up for a long time too.. I guess they just weren't expecting me to be trans. They accept it now, but man, your father sounds so supportive and accepting and understanding! That's just amazing.
