Not that number. Get your mind out of the gutter; I'm not that kind of girl.
No I'm talking about the number of strangers who've seen me outside in girl mode. This past monday I decided to go for a nighttime run in a skort. It had just rained so as a crutch I tied a rain jacket around my waist and over the skirt, so you'd have to look really closely to tell that it was a skirt and not shorts, I was very scared the whole time, but I saw about 2 cars during the entire 6 mile run. Tonight I was feeling braver, so I decided to not only go without the rain jacket, but I would wear a feminine cut athletic tee with my skort.
Well this time not only was there a car every 2-3 minutes, but I ran by three pedestrians and something involving a lit up fire engine. No one seemed to pay me any notice, aside from not trying to hit me with their car (always a good sign). So I'll chalk this up as a success. I also wasn't as nervous this time, I think it's because I've finally come to accept that the average person out there doesn't really care that much about how I look, or dress.
One other thought that I found interesting, I have been growing my hair out for almost 2 years, and I tied it into a pony tail much higher than I normally do. For some reason seeing my shadow with my pony tail bouncing with my stride, and the edges of my skort swishing around, seemed to make me really happy and content.
