Hello everyone,

I have a trip to Vegas coming up in July and it's like a 6 hour flight.

I've read that flights over 4 hrs have higher risk of getting DVT's. I will ask my Endo the same question but would like some feedback please.

I am over 40, do not Smoke and rarely drink Alcohol.

I was worried about it too but if you're relatively fit and walk everyday, you should really be OK. I had a 12 hour flight once on HRT and still standing. You might wanna get up and walk around a bit and drink as much water as you can.

If you can't leave your seat, loosen your seat belt and make a point of regularly shifting your body around in the seat. The problem is mostly because pressure points restrict the circulation so changing the pressure points and flexing the muscles will help keep the blood flowing.

I don't think there's any extra precautions you need to take because of hrt, and 6 hours is pretty short anyway.

Just get up a few time to go to the lavatory and you should be fine. As long as your circulation is good, you will be fine.

Thanks all. I usually walk 3-5 miles a day depending on the weather. It's too hot now so I ride my Beach Cruiser for about 5 miles instead. If raining I have my indoor cycle and Zumba DVDs.
It's just a concern at my age (50...eeeek). lol

How about packing your stationary bike in your carry-on and... Oh nevermind.  Just a thought.

Seriously you should be okay get up frequently to walk around.  But that is safe advice for anyone.

I've done several 4 hour flights to Vegas (My favorite place to go!) and don't do anything special. I've never had any problems.
I also make 2-3 round trips to China per year. Those are 14 hours in the air each way. I wore compression socks the first time but haven't bothered since then. I've done these flights both before and after SRS and had no problems. I don't exercise but I'm fairly active, I'm also 61.

I'm also planning a Vegas trip for the week of July 4!

I am about to head out on a 22 hour flight (8 + 12 + layover) and my PCP recommended to start baby aspirin a few days prior and to get compression socks do to the E I am taking. Seeing my OB/GYN (Endo) in two weeks, will ask her too...
