Yesterday was my very first time going out in public!  I wore skinny jeans & a new blouse I had just bought a few days ago. I was really nervous driving out of my small town I live in, but felt great as soon as i got on the highway. It's a little over an hour drive to get into the city, so I had time to get used to being outdoors without interacting with anyone (and do my voice lessons - I've only been at it for a week, so my voice is no where close to where it should be).

Went to see my therapist, and even had a nice conversation with a young lady in the waiting room (which she started). Therapist said I looked fantastic  ;D.  She also said she'll have my HRT letter ready on my next visit!  :o :)

I hadn't planned it, but I also dropped by a friend's house. He already knew about my transitioning, but hadn't seen me dressed up yet. He was surprised, but said I looked good!  :D

I didn't stop anywhere else. If I had someone else with me, I might have done some shoping. Sometime in  early July a lady friend from work is taking me shopping! I can't wait!!  She's been helping me out with lots of great advice (clothes and makeup mostly).

It's been amazing. Everyone I've talked to about my transition has been understanding & supportive! Family, friends, coworkers. I don't know what I could possibly have done right in my life to deserve all these amazing people.

Congratulations!!!  It feels great, doesn't it?  I still can't bring myself to go out near my home town as myself, but when I went to Colorado it was the greatest feeling.

Congrats Sarah on venturing out for the first time as yourself:0) Your spirit reminds me of myself just 2 years back when I began venturing out during the start of my transition. It feels really good to be able to get out and be yourself after hiding for so long. It's even more special when you can share it with friends or family! Keep up that spirit and it will serve you well as you go further into transition.

Congratulations.  I'm glad it was a happy experience for you. It gets easier after the first few times. I was so scared that my dad pretty much dragged me out in public the first couple of times I went out fully female.

Thanks everyone! It really did feel great. There's no way I can go out as my true self in the little town where I live but I'm going to take every opportunity I can to do so elsewhere!

I've only recently discovered how much I enjoy clothes shopping. It's not doing my bank account any favors, but I haven't been this excited about anything in years!  :D

You wouldn't happen to be willing to share what town you're in would you?  I live in Indiana, in a dinky little town called Crawfordsville, and finding someone near me to spend time with would be awesome.

I'm in southeast Kansas, but everything I do is in Kansas City. Sorry! I don't have anyone other than cis friends where I live.
There's a LGBT center in Kansas City MO that has monthly Trans social meetings. I missed this month due to previously made plans, but I hope to make the July meeting! If you're close enough to a bigger city, maybe they have something similar?
I'm going to be moving sometime in the next 6-8 months, since it'd actually be dangerous for me to go full time in this horrible little town. I'll probably end up in KC (where I grew up), but I've got some friends near the Dallas TX area that have offered to help me move down there. Also depends on finding a new job! [emoji21]

Welcome to magic!  Nothing can stop you now lady.  What an uplifting thread.

Thank You!

I began this journey when I began to think, but it took what it took for me to truly understand the what and the why of authenticity.  I'm grateful to have found a path that works and to live as I have always dreamed.

The dates are unimportant and are quite stale now.  The journey to truth is fresh and never ends.

I've made about a dozen trips out dressed in jeans and tops, just looking androgynous-ish, but wore my B cup forms out and about for the first time yesterday; met my first batch of transfolk too, who couldn't have been nicer.  We talked about stuff like fishing and 1 lb candy bars (my contribution - yes, they exist!) (No, I'd never eat one - or have one in the house, yrrrkkk! :D ).  It was worth the hour and half slog through traffic.

I try and do something new femme every day if I can, slow and steady wins the race as they say.  Walking through the supermarket with an unmistakable woman's profile was a trip!

Congrats from a fellow newbie!

I wore my B cups, too! Just got them 2 days before my trip.

There was a time long long ago when I could eat a 1lb candy bar in the blink of an eye. Now the very idea makes me feel ill! [emoji27]

Congratulations Sarah sounds like your on cloud 9
I wish I had the courage to do that, unfortunately I still have to live with my ex wife ( really not a good idea ) & she hates it so now I can only be me once every few weeks for a couple of hours. Sara

Hi Julie!!!

This is a sound strategy!... I vowed early in my transition to do something every day towards my goal... Even if it was something very small... Keep moving forward each day and before you know it... You've gotten somewhere!!! At the same time... Don't get overly fixated on the destination because the whole process of transforming a life is pretty amazing!!!... Enjoy the ride!!! :)

Onward we go!!!

Thanks Ashley!  I kind of pigged out on accomplishments today - half hour of electrology (upper lip looks like it will be bare in 2 more appointments, I got lucky with really sparse hair), lotsa shopping, lots of chatting.  Lady at the fruit stand loved my shoes!  It was sincere even if she thought it'd be fun to go out of her way to be nice to a CD, I was sincere with a smile and a thank you back too.   :)

Tomorrow I want to come out to a friend I see every week, I hardly have anyone I can talk to about this in real life.  She's a really cool and understanding person, moved to Oregon to get away from all the rednecks in Atlanta - although I wonder if she knew the country's biggest TG convention is there.

So I've been hearing. Unfortunately, Kansas isn't any better.
