"Having reactions" is not a very specific complaint. What is the problem? Nausea? Lack of pain relief? If you can't tolerate morphine because it makes you nauseous, then all strong opioids like oxycodone or oxymorphone (Dilaudid) are likely to cause similar reactions. Tramadol is a little different in its mode of action, as it is a weak mu-agonist, but also increases dopamine turnover.
You might inquire if there is an acupuncture anesthetist available. It is possible to get fairly profound anesthesia, enough to do surgeries with it.
