Quote• Susan A. Stanton, former city manager of Largo, Fla., population 78,000. Stanton, born Steven B. Stanton, was the city manager of Largo until he disclosed to the city that he was a transsexual and was pursuing sex reassignment from male to female. The Largo city commission voted 5-2 March 23, 2007, to terminate Stanton as city manager.

She also has served in administrative positions in Berea, Ky., Champaign, Ill., and Ketchikan, Ala.
