Hi there sisters , im trying to find out the do's and dont's with clothes , shoes and hand bags as i dont want to look like a tart ...... i love leather as i like the colours and styles and i am paranoid with my male parts showing through does anyone have any suggestions on the clothes and types of shoes and style of handbags i should go for

You can wear control panties and do a tuck to keep boys hidden.

The rest depends on your style, cultural norms and what kind of occasion you're going. Church wear is different than night club wear you know.

In general, beginners make one of two mistakes. Either they dress dull, like their granma (because their male upbringing tells them it's a safe choice to wear dull colors and not to draw any attention to themselves), or they do too much of everything for the wrong occasion.

You need to find your own balance. My goal normally is to look sexy but age appropriate (no miniskirts before 10pm)

Shoes... heels are nice but can amplify issues if you might be self-conscious of your height.  I found a style of sandal with just a bit of height I can wear in either mode (I haven't transitioned at work yet). 

My clothing style is from the local coffee shop.  No I don't wear what they sell... when I notice ladies with a style I admire, I go buy that type of clothing. 

I say if you are 6'3" and foot size 13, 3" heels are still your friends. I'm still totally tall, with or without them, so - adding a little there won't change a thing, but it makes my gait be different and my feet looks smaller

Im only 5"8 and i dont mind adding height to me and other family members have commented on saying that i have a big bum lol

I get from a few codewords you have used you are probably from England or Australia. The use of university and bum. We Staties use college and butt or bootie. I understand it can take a while to get through the red tape. I usually sport a black purse for everyday, goes with most everything. Hard to get me out of sandals, i'm in south texas so it's usually hot. If I'm going out and want to dress up I usually match my bag to heels or bag to top and heels to skirt. It's not too uncomfortable. For skirts I usually go with a tighter mid-thigh to ribs shaper.

Hi Wanda, between a Memorial Day and Labor Day you have to sport a white bag and white shoes That's a must in hot regions like Texas

My rule of thumb, bag matches to shoes, eithe solid patter skirt and colorful patterned top or solid top and colored patterned skirt. I prefer flared knee-length skirts (although I had worn maxis and minis in the past)

Make sure you are wearing age appropriate styles.  It is a very common problem to wear styles that are really designed for very young women in the prime of their sexual appeal by older TG women just discovering women's fashion.  The general tendency is to dress in a younger style than is probably optimal for age and presentation but most seem to recalibrate their sense of fashion as the novelty wears off and they acquire a personal sense of style and preferences.

Kendra makes a key point--constantly and carefully study other women.    Learn their mannerisms, behaviors, roles, and style. 

I find it really helpful to study the roles of women in old movies.  In the 40's-60's, the roles are dated and were sometimes exaggerated to our post-modern eye, but the underpinnings are the same in most cases.  Study Bogart and Bacall.  Others have cited the scene from "The Year of Living Dangerously" where Segourney Weaver and Mel Gibson  meet in the open air cafe and are caught in the rain as a laboratory for the study of feminine gestures.

For purses, it can be good to get a two toned one. I have one that is brown leather with black accents. that makes it more versatile. Don't hesitate to buy a bag that matches a dominant color in your wardrobe either. That is a neat look (for me that is blue)

I think the main thing is to look at sites like pintrest for ideas or just observe women around you. Also dressing your age is a fairly decent idea. Although, that is a constraint that many bend a lot and that is ok too. The main thing there is your comfort level.
