Facial changes on HRT

Megan.

It's interesting seeing the before/after pictures from those on HRT. The differences are often clear,  but also tricky to quantify.
The geek in me wants to use tech to track my own changes.
I'm hoping to use facial photogrammetry to record 3D models of my face over time,  these will (hopefully) better show where changes have occurred and to what extent.
If i have any luck,  I'll post the results here ☺️.

This is a few months old but I think there is some difference.  The first picture was after a couple of months of HRT.  The second picture was at two years.  If nothing else, my hair got longer. LOL

What a great idea! The results ive seen as well but you are right, they are hard to quantify. My spouse has recently mentioned that she sees my face as "smoother", so i have that opinion.

Hrt doesn't not change your face.

Bone,  no,  muscle and fat,  yes.  The extent varies as always.

And skin texture and oilyness most definitely.

You're negating a negation. So you aknowledge that it DOES change your face, right?

Most of the comments people have about my face after 4 years on HRT are that:

  • My cheeks and more rounded
  • My cheeks look rosy
    • complexion is outstanding
    • skin and pores look really good and soft
      • I have a lost a lot of my double chin
      • I have no Adams Apple - I never had one actually!

Huh? It's does not change your face, real change comes from surgery.

I was only alluding to the construction of your sentence; when you deny a negation, you're making an affirmation...

About the issue at hand... Of course HRT can change the face. It did for me. Yes, FFS will change my bony structure, but my face is not just made of bone. Perhaps you had a different experience and that's ok... just don't generalize it. [emoji6] Peace & Hugs, Sarah

Well... To each her own. Lets agree to disagree. I'm sorry HRT did nothing to your face.

I still wanna believe that this just a matter of definitions...

"Face" is a part of the body which comprises bone and soft tissues, which in turn are basically made of muscle, fat, loose connective tissue, skin, sensorial organs.

Now, I reckon that HRT does not change one's facial bony structure. Only surgery can. And I do plan to have FFS.

But there are other aspects that are also important to a transgender woman, which are fat distribution, skin texture and porosity, oilyness, pilosity. In my case, HRT had a negligible effect, if any, on my beard; electrolysis and laser have been necessary. But my skin is undeniably smoother, dryer and firmer. And I didn't do anything else (peelings, etc) except HRT. And I'm clearly not the only reporting those effects.

If those effects are sufficient to make someone pass is an entirely different question and that depends on other factors, such as the native bony structure.

Lastly, if you deny the plausibiliy of changes of the soft tissues, then I give up and we are done with this conversation, but I'll leave with the conviction that you don't know what you're talking about.

Peace & Hugs,

Sarah

There is too much evidence for this to be correct.  As you've seen here. Smoother skin, less oily skin, under layer of fat which smoothes out wrinkles etc. There is in many cases a significant feminization of the look of your face from the changes in fat on your cheeks.

HRT does not change anything about your skull or musculature, obviously that has to come from a skilled surgeon with his/her saws and scalpels.

I don't think its nice to say stop deceiving yourselves to people that are testifying to the contrary of your remark.

Cheeks, some reduction in masseter muscle, all soft tissue changes...  The skin is smoother, fees thinner, and is less oily.  Pores on and near the nose are smaller.
