So I had my first GT appointment scheduled today!

I drove an hour in a huge rainstorm to get there. I got there 30 min early and waited in the lobby because my heart was pounding! I go up to my GT's door and knock. And....nothing. Knock again. No answer again. I wait for 30 minutes after my scheduled time before I left and went home. No call to cancel and didn't answer my two calls. I sent an email when I got home just to make sure I had the right day. UGH...just gotta laugh instead of cry right?

I'm so mad and disappointed though.  >:( :'(

Horrible, sad...hope there is a very good explanation and apology.  Some very good and empathetic therapists are not the most organized people (right brain/left brain).  Very disappointing. If the therapist is a good one, he/she will take responsibility and do their best to accommodate getting you back in their schedule.  Nancy

Don't worry Vicki :)
You will see them and it will be soon
Let's see where this journey takes me.

UGH! It's definitely a bit of a let down. Especially when you would have been all psyched up for it. Maybe your heart will pound less when the appointment actually eventuates. Consider it a bit of a rehearsal to help you focus next time.

Thanks everybody! Still a little down but but definitely not out. Will just have to find another GT and try again!

Vickie if you had your schedule accurate you have every reason to be disappointed, and you are right to find a different therapist.  There are some pretty bad and unqualified therapists out there, mixed in with some great therapists.

My current therapist was late to half our appointments (2 out of 4) but at least she texted me right before the appointment time.
Assigned male at birth 1963.  Decided I wanted to be a girl in 1971.  Laser 2014-16, electrolysis 2015-17, HRT 7/2017, GCS 1/2018, VFS 3/2018, FFS 5/2018, Labiaplasty & BA 7/2018.

Thanks Kendra! I'm pretty sure I had the right day/time. There's a possibility I had the wrong address/building but not getting a call or voicemail is kinda odd if that was the case.

A little update...trying this again. So I COULD have gotten the wrong date for my 1st GT session lol. Anyways, I had the session today and it went great! My GT was really awesome and I'm glad that I didn't go looking for a different one after my "alleged" mistake haha! She is allowing me to take this at whatever pace I'm comfortable with. And just made me feel comfortable after going in with a bunch of nerves.

It felt so amazing to actually tell someone in person about the real me and my real feelings without any judgement! And to be addressed with my name(so not used to it) and proper pronouns felt great too! I can't wait for my next session and I'm on my way on this journey!

Great Vickie, Glad to hear it, must have felt wonderful.  So...just to complete the story, she did follow up by contacting you and it turned out there was a mix-up on the time/date of the first appt.?  Nancy

Yeah, she responded to my email that I sent a couple of days later. She had me down for yesterday on the schedule and I thought it was the Friday before. I probably jumped the gun for a couple of different reasons the main one being excited to get the process going. It was a blessing in disguise because it kinda forced me to come out to my wife a lot earlier than what I planned to. And that ended up a lot better than what I anticipated. Still a lot of work between us if it's going to work. But it's out there and she's still here for now.
