Hey, so I'm a transboy stuck in an all girls school. At first it was fine, but I started to become really uncomfortable with myself and where I was. I guess it started a couple of years back when I felt "different" but it's not really the environment where I can ask questions about it. I was teased relentlessly for those two years for being "gay", even though apparently it was only a joke.

There's several people in my year that make fun of anything LGBT related and it all getting a bit too much. I just want to know how you "came out" as trans at school or to your parents? How do you cope with dysphoria and mis-gendering all the time? I just need some sort of coping mechanism because more often than not I break down over the smallest of things. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Susan's Place. With the information you have provided, you have a limited number of options available to you. If you remain stealth for now, distraction is about the only option available to you. Keep busy and engage in activities that you have a strong interest in will temporarily keep you from thinking about your problems. The other option would be coming out to your parents or a school consoler so you can see a gender therapist. The therapist can help you with coping but the dysphoria will remain to some degree.

I decide to come out to my mother first as she was likely to deal with it better than anybody else. I picked a time when we would be alone and explained what I felt. I was fairly knowledgeable about treatment because I had spent years learning about myself. If you would like, a letter that you could give your parents is an option. We have sample letters on the site and we are willing to provide any additional information you require. Just let us know how we can help you.
