I'm sorry that happened. I have had this happen to me twice. They didn't call me he or sir but instead said "->-bleeped-<-" which is just as offensive.  Both times this happened it was gay guys. <phrase removed>From your picture I say you are passable.  But there will always be someone who can tell you are trans no matter how good you look. I wouldn't worry about it.

Well I don't feel passable anymore since that happened yesterday. I havnt been sir'd or referred to as he since I started hormones which was 19 months ago and then boom yesterday happened, it's like I'm going backwards and not forward.

Hey Angélique,

You're giving this women way too much power over your life.  I know it hurts, but what will hurt you more is if you let this incident control you.  There's a minority of people on this planet that are simply jerks that seem to get their kicks out of being mean.  They don't deserve a second thought, forget her and live your life for you, not her.

Also there's nothing wrong with being transgender.  We see the world differently than most and because of that we have a unique perspective on life.  We are a gift that the rest of society would be wise to respect.

Paige is spot on here. We've all been in your shoes at some point so we totally empathize and validate the way you feel. Now you have to let it go. You're doing that disrespectful woman's work for her at this point. You're the same person you were before it happened and you'll probably be the same person tomorrow. The fact is you have no idea, why or how this woman clocked you or if it might have been an innocent mistake. You have no idea what was going on in that woman's world.

Personally, I think you did the right thing since you were working by not giving her the satisfaction of visually rattling you and provoking a regrettable exchange. Some people might be willing to purposely create a public confrontation in a business establishment for no other reason than to get a discount of freebee. You could have been an unsuspecting target of a scam that you unknowingly stopped in it's tracks by not participating. OK, I'm seriously just making stuff up now.

Alright. I am about to reopen this topic.

It was a mistake on the OP's part and she corrected it. So I spent a good deal of time cleaning and editing to keep this thread on subject. I am not sure if we need another thread addressing a subject of acceptance and tolerance of differences within our own community.  If someone can do that and keep us within the Terms of Service, please proceed but not on this thread.

I judge that there was an unintentional slight to people and that the consequences have gone far enough.

We have to be aware that there are cultural and language differences on this site and sometimes people may get offended over a comment that is not meant to offend.
