Hey Lovely People :)

So... long time reader....first time poster..... I am a 26 year old MTF.

This is where I am currently at...

JUST started Hormones this week through the Gender GP Service, FFS booked for December this year, and I am awaiting my appointment with the official gender clinic after I spoke to my GP a couple of weeks ago (I'm based in London, so the wait will be a while)...

So I am thinking far ahead....but I notice that for most SRS Surgery that a letter confirming gender diagnosis is required, is this something I would get from Dr Webberleys GP Service ? Or do I need to now find a psychologist or something to help me.... I want to make sure that when the time comes that I am able to get the letter etc

Would love to know what the next steps are that I should be following,

Thanks xc , Angel x

Hey [emoji5], welcome. To answer your question,  I don't believe Dr Webberley can give a letter,  she is simply providing private bridging prescriptions. Clearance for surgery in the UK the can only come via either an NHS GIC or one of the two private GIC services in London. You don't say if you've started your RLE yet,  but my understanding is that WPATH requires 1 year full-time before surgery referral, the NHS route is often longer...
If you can fund it,  talking with a trained therapist can be useful in working through any thoughts or feelings you may have,  but in the UK,  therapists have no direct power to clear you for HRT or any surgery. Good luck. X

Thanks for your response xx

But I am not interested in having my SRS done in the UK or on the NHS, I am looking at having it done in the future at the Olmec clinic in India where they require a letter to confirm gender dysporia,

I wondered who I need to speak to in the UK to get this letter ?  x

It is up to the clinic in India to decide what their requirements are for the letter.  If they are following WPATH standards, it would be a mental health professional with training and experience dealing with gender dysphoria.  But you should check with them, since it is their requirement.

Congratulations on coming to grips with all this. It is a long process so try to be patient(sorry, no pun intended).
