New member here doing research for a friend-

My dear friend has transitioned to the point where the final step is SRS. She's settled on Thailand as it is the only place that is even remotely in her budget as she was recently dropped off her insurance at age 26.

I'm looking for information on Dr. Nara and Dr. Kuldech as well as any other of the lower price tier surgeons. I'm looking for a realistic, affordable option that is safe,  legitimate and one who has a website that I can actually contact. Honestly, the procedure itself needs to be in the $3500-5000 range. Obviously, there are flight, hotel and travel expenses on top of that. In a perfect world, price wouldn't be an issue.

What are some of the names I should be researching given this criteria?

Welcome to Susan's Place. The problem with this approach is you get what you pay for. Yes there are low price surgeons but many are plastic surgeons at best without proper training in preforming gender surgery. We have heard stories where people have undergone low price surgery then had serious complication afterward. Your friend should consider delaying surgery for a year or two in order to accumulate sufficient savings for a proven surgeon. You only get one shot at this and revision cost far more that a badly done surgery.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

There's only one thing I'd have to say:

Don't prioritize expenses over quality. Cheap surgeons are generally cheap for a reason: they've got no other way of attracting customers. The good ones, they draw customers by the merit of their results, so they can raise the price.

For a topic as important as SRS, there are no do-overs. You only get to take the leap once, and you'll have to live with whatever are the results. Do you really want to risk ruining your sex life (or worse) for a couple thousand dollars? How much is waiting two or three years worth, considering your friend can have a fulfilling life after?

Don't mess around with SRS!

You can get SRS in Thailand from US$2000, but I think its a really bad idea. As a foreigner you can only really find out anything about a few surgeons there, and nothing at all about the rest of them - including the cheaper ones.

You can find SRS results for Thai trans women if you look at porn, and many of them are horribly bad. Nothing at all like the results seen from the surgeons foreigners typically go to.

I appreciate the advice but it's not my transition and this girl won't make it two or three years. Believe me, if it were I, this wouldn't be an issue. I agree that cost should not be the deciding factor.

I was just inquiring about Dr. Nara and Dr. Kuldech. Has anyone had SRS by them?

I am not one to push alternative means when patience is all that is required, but has your friend considered a GoFundMe campaign?  Being open and honest about the situation and the needs, why you need funding.

Just an idea which would result in less risk and potentially better results, without having to wait years to build up funds...

The cheapest reputable surgeon known in the West is Dr. Greechart at Yanhee Hospital.  5k I think.   You have to be careful with some of the back alley type surgeons because the results can actually be worse than death.

Living in Bangkok and assisting Thai tgs thru my foundation I am probably one of the most knowledgeable here. There are good surgeons that are used by the local thai tgs but they still have a higher percentage of problem. They dont speak english well and I understand they dont serve foreigners, especially Westerners, due to bad experience and their rudeness.

Yanhee had some promotion for srs which I wrote about, in the forum, over a year ago. At one time Yanhee was the premium hospital for cosmetic surgery, it is still the only place that does electrolysis That time they had a great offer for srs of around usd  3,000. This included a hospital stay of up to 10 days. I am not sure this is still available.

Aime Clinic, a large reputable clinic with a TG clientelle has a new srs capability with an experienced surgeon, surgery at clinic. My best friend, a Thai TG works there. Check it out and I could probably get a discount.

Other than that, its all above usd 5,000.

Piyavite Hospital has just offered srs. Check their pricing.
