Given the little amount of hard fact data on transwomen, we can say that bio-identical HRT is very safe and should not cause any additional problems that any other woman would experience. Expect the same as any other women who have never had a pregnancy. Pregnancy does change breasts and women who are mothers will have different problems.
I am 67 years old and I started my transition just under 3 years ago. I am seeing a Primary Care Physician for all my general health concerns. She knows that I have a trans history and she is knowledgeable with my situation, having done her residency in San Francisco. Currently, I am taking Estradiol with a dose appropriate for post-op women. I am also taking, at my request, Finasteride to prevent any additional hair loss, since I was thinning badly on top and in front of my head. She says that since I am post-op, I should not need Finasteride, but there is no evidence of it being harmful.
As for mammograms, we are going to schedule regular exams on an annual basis at my next visit. No rush here. Even though I am 67, my breasts are like a teenage girl. The only problem I have with my breasts is that the left breast is slightly smaller than the right. I currently wear a 40 D bra.
BTW, breasts are so overrated. They really don't do much. Yes, breasts feed babies and attract men. Other than that, they mostly just get in the way.
On the other hand, for those of us with gender dysphoria, a good set of breasts are extremely gender confirming. I love my breasts very much. (o)(o)
Breasts are not that useless, people find utilities on them:
-they can feed people (well, if you're not breastfeeding this doesn't apply )
-they keep you a warm (a bad point in hot climates)
-they protect your ribs
-they can be used as pillows
-they can be used as pockets (you can lose stuff there)
-they attract attention (good and bad attention)
-they make you "more acceptable" as a woman
-can be used to break stuff lol (if they're big)
And then there's the lots of cons starting with bra pain, bouncing, sagging, boob pain, posture, spine, muscle and breathing problems, movement restriction (can affect your sleep and exercising routine) , more risks for a ton of diseases, and it's hard and unhealthy to hide them.
Also transfeminine people have more tendency to developing unusual shaped or underdeveloped boobs. I wonder if anyone here experience such ?
