Just like it says on the tin.

Hey, I'm a young-er female that is going to be getting drugs and other drug like things to make the y-chromosome-having exterior into something that makes me feel less like pure, concentrated garbage. So this is going to be a fun type thing that will make my next few years into a living hell while my university looks on at me with disgust and undisguised hatred.

Some background: I am training to be an officer of the Canadian Armed Forces, hence the french in my username (for the Americans, bilingualism is a requirement for officers in the Forces). I am also still attending the military college system after a year of trying my absolute hardest to ignore all signs of femininity inside me.

As I'm sure you all can guess, this went swimmingly for all involved.

Just the highlights: I have been openly laughed at, insulted, and otherwise glared at by the medical staff, I've been threatened to be booted for 'administrative difficulties', been told by my peers to simply quit, gone through several bouts of depression, some self harm (although my friend will be taking precautions against this for the foreseeable future), and miscellaneous violence and insults. All by the people I call allies.

On the bright side, what can the enemy throw at me that I haven't seen before, eh?

I'm finally getting past this stage of denial in my life and learning to move on from where I was. I've not been lurking on this board for too long, but I'll catch on quick. I look forward to typing out my problems and meeting other peeps, hopefully from around the general Canada area. (The forces is such a melting pot that I do probably know someone from your town, wherever in hicksville, Alberta you happen to hail from.)

If anyone is from the Kitchener/Waterloo area as well, I'd love to chat. I'm going on leave soon, so I'll be back home for a bit.

Thanks for reading my rantings. I hope to shock and amuse.

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Hello Emily!

Wow, sounds like you have had more than a few rough moments.  I am sad to hear of the situations you have encountered but you seem to be moving forward in good ways.   Very glad to hear you have a friend providing you with support.  I hope you can also gain some great connections here now that you have joined Susan's.

I firmly believe the world over time will greatly improve on this topic.  We just happen to be ahead of the curve.

Welcome to the Forum Ma'am. I'm a WO in The CF. I actually retiring on the 30 Aug. I have just recently come to the realization that I am Transgender and instead of going through the hassle after 21+ years I have decided to retire and transition. Your bravery and personal drive should serve you well in your career. I hope that your subordinates realize how brave you are. I hope you have a long career and enjoy your time in the CF.

Thanx for sharing,  I'm not quite in "hicksville" but I am in Alberta. Things will get better for you as you move forward .   There have been those who have completely transitioned in the CAF, so it does get better. Stand tall Sistah and be proud of who you are. be grateful, even of the negative as they are needed for growth.  Welcome here to Susans,  post often.

The ball is now rolling....I hope it doesnt run me 0ver

Hi Emily,

I'm Laurie, 64, MtF and in the USA where our administration has declared war on us. I sympathize with your plight and am sorry to note the bitterness your experience has caused you. No one deserves to be treated as you have been. I sincerely hope the situation gets better for you soon. Serving ones country is a noble thing but can be so hard when it seems everyone around is against you. Unfortunately adversity is a part we all must endure as we discover ourselves and take steps to become who we really are. I wish you luck in your endeavor.
Welcome to Susan's place where we strive to help each other. Come on in and join us in that effort.

Hugs,
   Laurie
