So I've been on T for about 7 months and more often than not, I'm actually not in the designated injection site.

In the first few months, I would sometimes have unbelievable pain and cry when I was in the official site even when I was doing everything right.

So a friend of mine did some research and said, just bring the needle further back towards your hip.
I still inject on my thigh, but when it's divided into 3, I'm in the first section.

I just got my levels checked and everything is even and I haven't had pain or swelling like I did before, but should I still go back to the regular site?

Welcome to Susan's Place. I am not on pills but I suggest you discuss this with your doctor. One consideration is internally we aren't exactly the same. You muscle development and body fat might be the source of some of your difficult. This is something your doctor could better judge with direct knowledge of your body.

I actually did mine wrong for the first six months that I was on shots as well. The nurse that showed me had me do it really close to my knee (maybe 3" or so away), and that was where I thought I should do it. My levels were fine but after a while it started to get really painful and I'd be sore in the joint for days afterwards.

So I slowly started migrating upward. Now I do it slightly closer to my hip than the mid point of my thigh, typically somewhere on the top left half of my leg. No pain ever, levels are still great.

Chat with your doctor about it. Your levels will continue to be about the same as long as you're getting into the muscle.
