The Original of Alex

Hi everyone, I'm Alex. It's been a long time since I was on a forum of any sort... probably 7-8 years. I've been transitioning (ftm) for the past 4 years (I've been a boy since I could have a perception of my own personhood, but I never knew there was anything I could do about it). I just got top surgery on 8/3. The healing has been kind of difficult and it caused me to realize how little support I really have. I'd been living in Denver for the past year and a half but my parents relocated me to Philly to be closer to them because my PTSD has been out of control and I needed a safe  place to recover after surgery (I've been homeless the past year).  My partner is still in Colorado. I really need to find some sense of community from here on... It's impossible to go through this alone. I hope that I can find a place to fit in with you wonderful people and start to rebuild my life in a positive way... as corny as that  sounds.

Hi Alex, welcome to Susan's 🙋🏼  I'm so happy your here!  Susan's has been a lot of support for me as a transgender woman and I know there is plenty of support for transgender men.
Happy for you! Jessica 💁

Hi Alex. Here is a list of Philly support groups. I would seek them out to give you information and support. They do make a difference. Good luck in your transition.  https://www.google.com/search?q=transgender+support+groups+philadelphia&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS718US718&oq=transgender+support+groups+philadelphia&aqs=chrome..69i57.17708j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Welcome Alex!

I'm FTM also but have only started my transition about 7 weeks ago.

This is a good site for support online, but if you can find a local support group that is easy for you to access then that would probably be better.

See you around!

Welcome! I'm just coming back myself after years gone but susan's is a great place for support and acceptance. Grats on top surgery. That's a big deal and I know the recovery can be hard to navigate.

Hi Alex

Welcome to Susan's Place for lost and lonely transgender folk. LOL I'm Laurie, mtf and an unofficial greeter by way of self appointment. Again be welcome here Alex and come right on in. You come a long way in your transition if you have already undergone top surgery and you are to be  proud of taking that huge step. It does sound as though you've had a difficult time of things and I hope things improve for you soon.
I personally cannot help you much except to say you are welcome here and wanted. There is a lot of information to be had here and we have forums dedicated to the ftm folk. They likely can help you better but you are free to share wherever you please.

Hope you can find what you seek here Alex.

Hugs,
   Laurie
