Hello - I'm a 28 year old FTM. I've been on testosterone for 8 years. I'm currently trying to get everything together so I can enter the program to work abroad in Ireland for one year. The US and Ireland have an agreement where US citizens that are currently in school or graduated within the past year can live and work in Ireland for an entire year. My one year graduation anniversary is in December so I must submit everything by then.
I'm worried about my testosterone prescription, though. I'm hoping I'll be going to Ireland with enough testosterone and needles/syringes, but if not, or if something happens, is it possible for a non-eu citizen to see a doctor and get a prescription? Does anyone have any idea what that would cost (roughly) out of pocket? I'll be going there with 2,500 in euro and $4,000 in my bank account. I'll be working. I have an accounting degree but since I'll be an immigrant and not a citizen, I'm sure I'll only get a retail or restaurant job. I'll either rent a room in a house or share an apartment.
It sucks because literally the only thing I'm apprehensive about is making sure I have enough testosterone for the duration of my stay and a little for when I return. I'll be quitting my current job to do this which means I will not have insurance when I get back. It all might sound a little crazy but I mentally and spiritually need a unique experience like this. Life is precious and short. I don't make a ton of money right now ($35,000) so it's not like I'll be leaving a lucrative career. Now is the best time for this.
If anyone has any information or similar experience, please let me know. I'll take all the advice I can get.
