Started estradiol last night. Felt wonderful mentally today! Probably placebo effect, but I will take it! So calm, focused and productive. I feel like a person for the first time !!

On my second international flight since going full time. Made it through customs, immigration and security check in a skirt (still have my male passport). So far no problems waiting for boarding to start... so happy right now...

Today I was hit on by a guy on Facebook who was talking about how "fine" I was and how great I look in my pictures. He hadn't figured out I was trans until I asked him if he saw that in my profile.  He disappeared quickly but damn was that affirming to be hit on like I was any other woman

Ha! You better get used to it... men are strange 🤣
(And yes, I still smile about the first time I got hit on)

I ordered a pair of high-waisted skinny jeans in an Australian size 18 (a US size 14(?)), thinking I would need the larger size to fit me. I figured they might fit my waist, but not my thighs/legs, when I ordered them.

They arrived and I put them on.

They fit! But they were too big! (for skinny jeans)

I cried. I fell on my bed and cried. I'm keeping them since they're comfy and I cried in them (I'm emotionally attached now ), but I'm going to try and find a pair of size AU 16 (US 12(?)) locally this weekend Needless to say I was ecstatically happy all of today thanks to that morning delivery.

Had my ears pierced for the first time in my life. Almost didn't hurt. Little blue and white gemstones forming a cute flower... I'm supposed to leave them on for 6 weeks. Which means that Sunday I'm going to work wearing them! Hahaha! Well, they're a fine match for my blue surgical cap! And I feel kind of cute...

I met some old friends today that I had not seen in over a year. When I first walked into the room they claimed they didn't recognize me because of the "big changes." They both asked what I have done to "look so much younger!" The other one backed up that statement with, "You look 10 years younger! What have you done?" They kept insisting "something has changed" but I gave no clue about my 16 months HRT (I cannot recognize any changes to my face. Apparently they did). I am sure they also noticed the big changes to my chest but they didn't ask about that (thankfully). I just thanked them for the compliments and changed the subject as best I could. Later, one of them returned to the original subject and said, "You've lost a lot of weight!" I'm already skinny so I can only assume that because of the "extra" weight on top that my proportions have changed a lot, making it appear that I have lost weight elsewhere, I guess. Anyway, made my day in a really good way...

Lucky girl! I'm dying to get my ears pierced, but I'm worried about explaining them to people at work (not my coworkers, the public I work with). Within the next month or so my hair should be long enough to cover them, though!

Went to my psychology appointment today.  First time going out with my purse and mascara on in my home town.  Went to work with my nails polished, mascara on, and using my still a bit rough female voice.  My psychologist keeps saying she can't see my beard, but I can.  One of my subordinates said I looked a bit more feminine today.  Less than a week of employment left.  I am thinking of piercing my ears tomorrow.  Need some encouragement, because I am afraid of needles.  Like terrified of them.  I can't watch people put earrings in their ears, in the holes that are already there.  The thought of it is both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time.

Only had one odd look, but most of my coworkers were already aware. 

I'll admit I had some fear getting my ears pierced last year, ironic after all those hours of electrolysis.  Some of my electrolysis has been slightly inside the ear with no numbing stuff, my electrologist doesn't even ask - if she spots a stupid white hair sticking out of my ear she kills it.  I think that's the key - if she asked I'd get nervous but she dives in and it's not that bad.

If you're getting ears pierced by a professional everything will be fine.  A regular ear piercing is very easy.  Other locations higher up the ear are not as easy.  From what I hear.

I've also had my navel done.  Yeah that's probably illegal for someone my age but what the heck.  The anticipation for any of these piercings is far worse than the actual sensation.  And my navel ring made three people happy - myself, my boyfriend and my girlfriend (they are a married couple).

Sarah - if you are concerned about issues at work get a pair of "invisible" ear studs in advance.  I've seen gals working at the local Starbucks wear them for some of the more radical piercings (above the lip etc), they are flesh tone and almost invisible.  I don't think all piercing places have them in stock but you should be able to find a set online and take them in with you.  Just make sure the material isn't too cheap with a fresh piercing - ideally you want something hypoallergenic.

How invisible are those studs really? I'm going to the Southern Comfort convention in Ft. Lauderdale in September, where I'll be full-time for two whole days, and I'd love to get them pierced while I'm there. But I'm not out yet in the outside world, and I wonder whether I can get away with it.

I went upstairs this morning and took out my new skinny jeans. I tucked and put them on.

Proceed to a 20 minute anguish montage of me checking how they look in the mirror, how my tuck is going (TMI though I'm not well endowed so I've not had to worry to much there, even though I do. Constantly -_-)

Once I'm comfortable with how they look, and once I convince myself my parents won't think anything of them, I go downstairs as if I'm not wearing a pair of jeans, something I haven't done in probably 10 years.

My mother does indeed notice, does a literal double take, and goes on a three to five minute talk on how they suit me and how well they fit me. She gets me to do a twirl, comments on their fit, asks how I got them, and says she loves that I found a pair of jeans that finally fits me (What she doesn't know is that they're women's skinny jeans, and I like to think that I never found a pair that I liked or that fit me because I'd always looked in the wrong section).

After soaking in all that I had to excuse myself because I couldn't hide my smile, which grew exponentially larger after I was out of sight

Well, Sarah, I'm doing it because I'm finally out at work and there's already a vague timetable of my transition in people's mind, and they're fine with it. They expect slight changes in the upcoming months and a big change around February-March 2018 (FFS + BA + official name change), so I don't expect any big reaction about my earrings... perhaps a bit of curiosity, a smile or two... but that should be it. About the public I work with, they're my patients and I don't expect any questions from them. If they ask, my plan is to tell them the truth: "I am transgender and this is just a step in my transition from manhood to womanhood. In case you wonder, this does not change anything about the doctor I am and I'm still going to take very good care of you." ☺

Anyways, my hair wouldn't be of any help. After my recent hair transplantation, I look more like GI Jane... I have nothing to hide my ears! I anticipate that I shouldn't expect to have a satisfactorily long hair before a good 2,5-3 years from now... Lengthwise, I'm looking for something along these lines...



Any idea of how long it will/would take to grow such a beautiful head cover? Do you think 3 years is overly optimistic?
