It'd be nice if people didn't have to travel so far to get STS. Is there enough supply (surgeons) for the demand (people seeking surgery)?

Maybe in another hundred years or so. This would be after it's not a big deal, and surgical technology has advanced much further than it currently is.

Maybe some enterprising mod could start the forum "MTF surgeons in major cities" in the Gender Correction Surgery forum like the "HRT Providers by Location" forum listed under the HRT forum.

Depends on the demand, if there are a lot of transgender people who want to have GRS/SRS, sure,  part of the equation is how many people will demand it.

Crack cocaine is illegal, yet, demand warrants production of it, at the lowest common denominator explanation of what demand is.

Back 40 or so years ago in the USA there was just Dr Biber in, of all places, Trinadad Colorado. FAR from a major city. Today, there may be one in very very few cities.

Kaiser Permanente is working hard to make that a reality in the states where it operates.  Early this year Kaiser did its first GCS with in house surgeons who received training from some of the big names in the business.  It is Kaiser's intention to have an in house GCS surgical team and transgender care unit in every city where it operates.

i'm from philadelphia and there are three in the area and two in philly itself. dr. rumer even accepts medicaid, which is how i got surgery wednesday. she did an amazing job but this catheter in my vag is the worst--but worth it...

Well, a new clinic was recently announced for Toronto, which would be quite handy for me.  At the moment, there's only the Brassard clinic in Montreal to serve all Canada.  So, that new clinic means a 100% increase in places for GCS in Canada.  I wouldn't be surprised if one turned up in the Vancouver area.  I doubt the other provinces would have the population to support one.

Major cities, being like 250,000 + in population for example - it seems quite likely....
