I was wondering if anyone could comment on the effects of HRT on reducing aggression and anger? I realize that it's not a cure for everything, but since I'm already considering HRT I was wondering if it has a noticeable effect on how easily you become provoked?

It has for me.  I can still get provoked but it doesn't happen nearly as fast anymore.

There is one negative here though.  I used to be able to quickly induce an adrenaline rush just by thinking about it.  This was useful in some situations such as when working out.  Now I can't do that nearly as well and the adrenaline rush I can get feels orders of magnitude weaker than before.

I can definitely say it's had a huge affect on my aggression. After my last deployment about a year ago I came back with moderate PTSD and I had a hell of a time dealing with anger. I went on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications which only barely helped but after only a few weeks of HRT I found I was able to get off all my other medications without anymore problems. Where I once would have chewed someone apart for something minor, I find I am at least back to my pre-military level of control so I would imagine it would even be noticeable for someone who never had to deal with constant rage. I've only been on hormones for nearly just under 2 months so I'm hoping it's not a placebo effect that'll go away over time.

For me its been a permanent effect for over two years.  So I'm pretty sure its not a placebo.  I do wish that I could call up that adrenaline on demand though.  I'm hoping that's something I can get back with practice.

Absolutely no difference in my case despite very low testosterone. Very high or very low estrogen doesn't make a difference.

Same here for almost 3 years on estradiol. Nothing bothers me anymore. Nobody can do anything to upset me now. I am at peace with the world. I feel so calm and relaxed. I feel wonderful.

Thank you all for the replies. I'm not expecting miracles, and this isn't the primary reason I am considering HRT. Just got wondering today if eliminating most or all T would lower aggression.

I'd just like to say that this is something I think about as well - I haven't started on HRT yet, but right now I get so p$%^ed off at the tiniest things, and feel ashamed every time because I can feel the testosterone running through me. So if anyone else experienced a decrease in anger levels on MTF HRT, please say!

It didn't really affect me in that way. I'm only about 10 months in, though.

It seems like it even completely neutralized my ability to get angry. Frustrated, perhapsm but I cannot remember when I was last angry! Which is yet again one more thing that supports the contention that I am an obvious no-brainer case for the full fem monte!

I never had much anger management issues, but I will say, you gain a real appreciation for the power of testosterone, once you get away from its effects. No wonder women find men so inexplicable. Women have never had to deal with that poison in their system!

T can be "poison" for us, women, in too high quantities BUT, being post-op several years, I found having a little T made things better in the sexual department, helped with lean mass/cellulite, skin/hair, energy, mood in addition to E. T can also be useful in women, just not too much of it. Some do, however, feel fine with very little. YMMV. I like some T added to my "cocktail". Too many make that mistake, I think, of vilifying T when it could improve their quality of life, make them look more attractive and healthier. I made that mistake for many, many years but better late than never! 

I've only been on HRT for a week (really? Just a week? It feels longer!).  I know people say that it's the euphoria of moving forward and the placebo effect is huge - and that might be.  Or it might be that I'm actually experiencing something from HRT.  But either way, my reaction to anger changed within a few days of starting - I still have anger, but it's not as overpowering and controlling. I can say, "I'm angry, WHAT SHOULD I DO?" rather than "Me Angry. Me smash stuff." (okay I never smashed stuff, but I did act without any thought)

I really hope this is something that lasts - it might be the best part of HRT for me if it does.

Been on hrt for over 4 years, going on 5 years and not only has my aggression gone down quite a bit, but also my strength. Aggression to me, has always been tied to physicality, but has now been reduced into thinking a lot more about the consequences, of any hasty action.

So I tend to think about the consequences, but also see things more clearly and act without due hesitation, like in my pre e days.
