I'm never sure what sub forum to put stuff in, but this seemed like as solid as any place to ask this...

So I'm looking into getting breastforms, and am a little dismayed by the seeming lack of consistent information and the price for decent ones. If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. I'll just list the questions point by point for ease...

1) Can use them in a regular bra, do you have to get a breastform specific bra, or does it vary based on the individual breastform style/brand?

2) As a purely temporary measure, are cheap breastforms on amazon worth anything at all? I'm a bit suspicious between mediocre reviews and them being a quarter of the price or less of the ones at speciality shops. Likewise, if cheap ones are okay to just start with, any good pointers on where to find them? Even the $45 (for the size I want) at Amazon is still a bit more than I can pay right now.

3) In general, what size is a pretty good go to for a moderately broad male-style chest? I know that for proper proportion when dealing with a broader upper torso, larger is necessary, but I don't really know how much larger and opinions seem to vary wildly. (I'm looking for this one from a realistic perspective, not a wanting to be a "big breasted sex bombshell" perspective.) I am finding it very hard to judge off random images.

I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something to more realistically fill out a few clothes before I even start HRT. Won't be worn for long at a time or in any hectic situations (ie: no chance of just popping out, and even if they did not a big deal if I'm alone in my room). Mostly I'm looking for something I can stare at myself in a mirror with and feel good about myself.

1: I use normal bra's I have found underwires are a necessity tho.

2: My forms are not anything fancy they are just generic breast enlargement fillets that one of our local bra shop sells. Tho avoid the stick on ones

3: Mine are a +2 cup it will depend on your build, but if you get cheap ones you can always afford to experiment. I certainly did.

Mine are really simple no fake nipples or anything but with a couple of layers they look quite good.

Note: I do a lot of crawling in ceilings and other stupid stuff like that for my job. I have found bras that fit tight at the top help with them not falling out when your doing physical activities.

Some bras tend to just cup the bottom so the first time you bend over they fall out so try a few to make sure they hold them how you want.

wow, thanks for the fast response! I'm unsure what +2 cup is though? Is that non-US sizing?

When I first transitioned I used silicone breast forms. They were called cutlets and were pretty cheap. I never used special bras with them but make sure your bra is tight enough to hold them. Mine fell out on the floor at Walmart once when my bra wasn't tight enough. Embarrassing much? Lol

They are +2 because they increase your bust by 2 cup sizes

When I wear them it gives me a B cup of there abouts

Ie if I woman with a B wore them they would give her approximately a D cup.

It may just be a local thing.

1) yes, you can. Full coverage and underwire is your friend. Although I used also Jenny Sports bra friends n Walmart 'as seen on tv' section, cut the seam and replaced foam inserts with silicons. Very cheap and reliable.

2) as a temporary measure anything goes, even water balloons or bird seed. The difference shows if you want to show the cleavage.

3) Measure your chest size around nipples in inches, round down to smaller even number. That's your band size. Look what smallest cup sizes are common in your Walmart. Target that size. For instance - I'm 40'' around chest, I might go with 38c (it's stretchable somewhat) or 40b (if I buy a bra in Kohls). I could go bigger - to 38d or 40c, but I have nearly no body fat, so they are a bit too big on me. If you're plum, your boobs are bigger. If athletic, they are on a smaller size.

When in doubt, don't go too small (male chest is wider than female and you need bigger boobs to look natural), but don't go too big either (your butt is not big enough to balance them and your back will kill ya). Goldylock rule!
