I'm really wanting more on my hips and have been seeking surgeons who do this type of work.  Has anyone gone through any procedures for fuller hips?  If so, has it lasted or been positive?

There is a thread about this procedure somewhere on this forum.  I read it with great interest before I started transition and thought my skinny little man butt was going to need a lot of outside help.  Fortunately for me it turns out that the women in my family carry a lot of weight on their hips.  As I am fond of saying, all my hormones went to my hips and butt.  So I really don't need this, but happy to pass it along.

When you say hip implants, most all surgeon think hip joint replacement, which is done to repair the joint and keep it the same size. Hip replacements do not last forever and sometimes must be replaced them selves in 10 years or so. This is only done if you cannot walk with your normal hips because of arthritis.

I am sure you really mean butt augmentation with either a semi-solid silicone implant or fat transfer which is sometimes called a Brazilian Butt Lift. If you have excess body fat, your surgeon can harvest the fat from your tummy and transfer this fat to your derriere.  I have seen women who have had this procedure and they look good.

Without any excess fat, you can augment with the semi-solid silicone implant. I have no experience with this procedure.

So..... I have been lookin' around the web at surgeon's who do hip augmentation, not hip replacement (please).  Though more than likely I'll need a hip-joint replacement at some point in my life due to some bad paraglider landings.

There are a number of surgeons that do both fat grafting and/or implants to give a more curvy shape. They're the ones calling them implants, not me, so you'll have to have a dialogue with them about nomenclature.   But quite a few of them do it in addition to the Brazilian, meaning they are different procedures, even though related.

While I have read that fat grafting is not very successful, I'm curious about the implants. A number of surgeons now put the implant under muscle so it stays in place and lowers risk of encapsulation or interfering with nerves and blood flow.

I am more interested in this than having answers. But have done some research and fat grafting can be successful if the doctor has the technique mastered. Just hard to find that. Plus not sitting or lying on the area treated helps but is hard to do.

There are ways to achieve your goals, or at least get much closer to them through diet, nutrition, and exercise, rather than surgery. It is not prohibitively difficult to add muscle mass to that area of the body. Just takes the right approach. Unlike with the dangers of fat grafting, the muscle won't be absorbed by the body or shift to unwanted areas. It will also greatly help with your hip problems, possibly preventing the need for replacement, unless the damage is entirely cartilage based. Even then, the added muscle and blood flow in the area makes for fewer complications during surgery and a faster recovery. Increasing general body muscle mass also helps the body burn calories and fat, even during periods of inactivity, such as surgery recovery. For more info, please ready my post on page 3 of "Feminizing workouts?" For targeted concerns, such as joint pain and how to work around it, feel free to message me.

Regardless of the route you choose, educate yourself as much as possible on the subject, have realistic expectations, and above all, stay safe.

They can take it from anywhere. But you have to be careful fat cells have memory. Meaning. If your like me. Skinny everywhere except a beer belly. Or actually a soda belly. And you take fat from there and the cells survive well you would get the same abnormal growth where ever you transfer it to. Just what I've read.

You've read correctly. Though it is more common for liposuction fat to be used in breast augmentation as the biophysics of it lead to increased success rates, yes you can have it moved to the hips. However it is not merely a matter of the cells surviving well if you want them to continue to grow. The veins and nerves need to be reattached as well. Otherwise it will function much the same as any other implant material, but with its own mechanics. One of those is due to its Jello like structure, it has a tendency to shift with excessive movement and vibration. The hips as opposed to the breasts, are nearly vertical in their orientation, so gravity can loosen the implants easier. It is also the area of the body that normally experiences the most movement stresses on a regular basis. Those are reasons why fat transplants to the hip are rarely performed, and with a relatively low rate of long term success. In the breasts, their sac like structure and horizontal orientation helps the transplanted fat stay in place, and usually only minor, barely detectable shifting occurs.

Anything you do to your body to make yourself happy is ultimately your decision. Just be careful with whatever you choose.

My therapist, who I obviously trust with my life, has horror stories about hip augmentation.  Please do a TON of research.  From what she told me, they tend to rotate, drop, etc... and Most of the cis women I know really don't have wide hips.  BUt most of the CIS women I know are runners.
