hi everyone, I haven't been on here in about 20 months as my treatment was really slow going but thing have been looking up.

I started HRT last weekend after waiting 4 years due to long waiting lists at charing cross and being diagnosed with liver disease along the way. but there was good things that happened as well, I enrolled at university completed my first year with top, top grades and im now in the first semester of my second year training as a human biologist and looking to go into the research sector as well as lecturing as i absolutely love teaching and sharing my knowledge with others.

so iv read everywhere that change start to occur on a noticeable level about 2+ months on HRT, but after a week if have noticed changes

firstly I cant stop peeing like going from peeing 2-3 times a day to now 10 times a day but the volume has not changed it like I have bladder weakness. (before anyone says I'm not on spironolactone or any other androgen blocker at the moment as iv always had really low androgen levels)

i could quite easily cry on any given day over something so trivial.

the hair on my arms is growing slower, I normally shave my arms twice a week and its down to once a week although I could get away with leaving it longer,

all of a sudden i like chocolate (alot), before it really wasnt somthing i would eat.

and I already have growth buds in my breasts, i have had boobs since i was 10 and before last week they were large B cups not quite C cups now they are a perfect C cup.

finally, iv lost my appetite completely i used to eat about 3000 calories a day and my weight was stable I'm struggling to eat 1000 calories a day now.

has anyone else ever experienced changes on Hrt this quickly, I would say it's worrying me as i expected all of these but, its a lot to take in all in one week.

I don't know if there's any real research on this, but I feel certain that estrogen enhances the flavor of chocolate.
Congratulations on starting HRT! I've been on for almost 3 months, and I've never felt better in my life.
My buds started about 10 days in. The effects & the speed of them occurring is different for everyone, though. The loss of appetite might be psychological. When I was denying who I was, my depression would lead me to eat somewhat excessively. With that depression lessened, my appetite is more normal now.

Enjoy the ride!

the thing is before HRT i could eat and eat and eat and never gets full along with that I love pretty much all food wether its baked beans, rice and cheese or lobster thermidor dressed with caviar and washed down with champagne quite simply nothing gets in the way of food. the only food at the moment that make actually want to eat is pizza.

my mum also started HRT for the menopause 3 months back and she has said the same about her appetite as we are a family that love food.

i also have noticed how Pepsi max does not taste the same as it did before.

its not like im even getting hungry, this weekend all iv had is a slice of chocolate cake.

I have had the diminished appetite meals that I would have finished easily before are enough for at least two meals now I have struggled with my weight for thirty years but now it is coming off with ease my brain fog cleared up with in two days this was an unexpected bonus and my mood is getting better every day at this rate I am in danger of becoming one of those annoyingly happy people  HRT affects us all differently and I am glad it has been good for you

thanks for the response. it will be interesting to see if this quick start carries on next week and the following weeks my dose is doubled in 7 weeks time, so that could be even more interesting. i could end up with 38DD boobs by Xmas hahaha.

i did have the idea maybe I'm noticing it more because I'm a human biologist and i look at human health with more scrutiny than others along with the scientist attention to detail

On just estrogen, my appetite does indeed diminish considerably and I can easily go hours and hours without eating anything. Estrogen is known to suppress appetite. I do crave dark chocolate too, quite often but not sure if it's increased since HRT.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

My appetite has not diminished.  I do go long periods without eating but that's intentional with fasting.  But when I do eat it's still in huge quantities with 2000+ calories for supper each night.
