I am way past needing a surgeon but I have been dealing with Dr Meltzer's office and I am getting to know Dr Ley. I haven't seen her work yet but I have seen Dr Meltzer's work and Dr Ley received Dr Meltzer's seal of approval before she was permitted to do surgeries on her own. My personal view is that she is a capable surgeon, pays a good deal of attention to detail and I would be comfortable with her preforming any surgery I might require. You might find her a bit quiet at first but if you ask questions, you should be able to complete answers to them.

I have seen her work and even though I'm one of Meltzer's patience she has done some of my surgical follow ups and treatments. Hugs

Hi I had my consult with Dr. Ley and Dr. Meltzer in May of this year. They were both just amazing! So based on time frame I am going with Dr. Ley and am scheduled for GCS in January 2018 (Pesky year wait) My partner and I were very impressed with her and had seen some of her work. We also saw both doctors at Gender Odyssey in Seattle this past month. Not sure it helped at all just my 2 cents.
Take care,
Margaret

I had a consult with Dr. Ley back in February. She was nice and had impressive surgical credentials. However, I thought there were several times during the consult when she acted, perhaps unintentionally, in a deceptive manner. For instance, when I asked her about whether any of her patients had experienced serious complications, she quoted very low complication rates. However, when I clarified, she admitted that those complication rates were for the entire practice. Meltzer has performed more than 90% of that practice's historic cases, so in effect, she was really quoting Meltzer's complication rates, rather than her own.

Similarly, I asked if I could see pictures of her results. She directed me towards the album in the lobby. I had already seen the album at that point, and asked her if there were any way to distinguish which cases were from Dr. Ley and which were from Dr. Meltzer. She said that there was not, but results were similar for both doctors.

In both cases, I felt that she provided initial answers that were at serious risk of being misunderstood, and I needed to clarify. I ultimately selected another surgeon.

Thanks for all the responses.  I have heard similar information about her. My main thing was I wanted to stay local area if possible. ( Scottsdale) but not have to wait a couple of years.
Since posting this. My surgery  date with Dr. Wittenberg ( San Francisco) was moved up to January 8 2018.  Very excited.

There is something I picked up with Dr Ley. She sometimes pauses or delays responding in a normal conversation. I take it as possible shyness, considering a response, manners, translation issues or fear of offending. In some of the conversations there was no reason to deceive me so I suspect that it's part of her nature and has been for a long time. Like you, I wasn't sure what to make of it the first few times I saw it but I am pretty sure she is skilled and knowledgeable. When she examined my surgery she knew exactly what it was even though a more modern version has been provided for years.

Hello Ashley,

It has been one month today since Dr. Ley performed GCS on me. I can only say great things about her. She is quiet and does not offer a lot more than directly requested but I take that as a personality trait, not uncommon amongst focused skilled surgeons. In my case, I truly appreciated her interactions and caring response. The work was done well and my healing is continuing without complications. I saw my local OB/GYN yesterday and she was also impressed with Dr. Ley's work. She saw no problems and suggested that my healing is a ways further along than others she has treated from other surgeons. I can not compare Dr. Ley with others but I can say that I have absolutely no reservations in referring her to anyone seeking GCS, or actually any procedures within her considerable skill set. Best of luck with whomever you choose.
