when I started taking estrogen I noticed that my blood pressure which had been somewhat high dropped to the point that I no longer had to take medicine to keep it down. is this common.

Stress does horrible things to the body. The estrogen or just the fact that you are dealing with a problem you have lived with for years can make a major difference in you health. We have other members who had anxiety attacks and where in the hospital for heart attack symptoms but cured but starting their transition. A secondary factors is people look at themselves and start taking better care of their health. They stop smoking, lose weight and exercise in order become the person they have always wanted to be.

If you are also taking Spironolactone as an androgen blocker it will lower your blood pressure.

I agree. It's most likely the Spiro (if that's your AA) rather than the oestrogen.

Studies have shown that bio-identical estrogen, taken orally or not, can reduce/normalize blood pressure. Could be spiro, the estrogen or the combination of both.

I know testosterone will raise bp. Mine went up when I was on it. Not good experience. Did it for the wife. Made dysphoria worse and packed on the pounds, muscle and fat, like crazy. Never again.

I had high BP, borderline for meds for years.
One month on hrt and I was at a normal BP .
I did not do anything different like quit drinking or lose weight so I swear it was hrt.

HRT did not change my blood pressure.  Change of diet, weight loss, and exercise lowered it a lot.

Were you taking bio-identical testosterone? If anything, testosterone helps keep the fat away. It also tends to dilate blood vessels.

I was a lot fatter with high testosterone too.  I don't think it was the hormone that did it though.  Rather it was that I felt like crap all the time and was drinking up to 1000 cal a night extra in alcohol.
