I was just wondering if there are any musicians here?
Me I have played bass for 20 years. Played in many DC metal bands \m/ in the past. Not in the past couple of years though.

me! I play guitar and bass and sing too. I've been playing in Binghamton NY punk bands since 2001. my current band is currently recording and I'm having a really hard time with the vocals, and my band doesn't know about my transition yet. ugh

I play guitar and violin, neither one with any competency.  Still though, I love both.  My favorite style to play is classical, but also love bluegrass and metal too.

10/11/18 - out to the whole world.  100% friends and family support.
11/6/17 - came out to sister, best day of my life
9/5/17 - formal diagnosis and stopping DIY in favor if prescribed HRT
6/18/17 - decided to stop fighting the trans beast, back on DIY.
Too many ups and downs, DIY, purges of self inbetween dates.
Age 10 - suppression and denial began
Age 8 - knew I was different

Contrabass player here! Well, that's my main instrument, but I can't help trying new instruments all the time. I'm experimenting with synths and keyboards right now.

On a more academic plane, I'm studying music, and play in the conservatory's orchestra.

Singing forever and playing guitar since 1975.  Been in a number of pop/rock bands.  Now doing a number of Open Mics at local cafes.  Pop/light country/streampunk, whatever songs where I can hit most of the notes ; )

    The only instruments I have any experience with are guitar and hand percussion (congas, bongos, etc.) I wish I was better at guitar, but can't afford lessons atm. On the other hand I've been in one choir or another off and on since I was 6. Choral training has been great for helping me with voice modulation (femme voice.) What made you leave the music scene? (Making an assumption from your verbiage here.)

Classical violin from age 6.  Very active until depression hit after puberty, took a break for a few decades.

Joined a loud band in 2000, electric violin.  I don't drink but the band is Free Beer. 

Assigned male at birth 1963.  Decided I wanted to be a girl in 1971.  Laser 2014-16, electrolysis 2015-17, HRT 7/2017, GCS 1/2018, VFS 3/2018, FFS 5/2018, Labiaplasty & BA 7/2018.

Hi,

I play the guitar, bass, piano, violin, synth and also sing.
One of my big interogations about transitioning to a women is whether it's possible to become a female singer.
From what i understand, feminizing your voice is possible, but most of the process seems totally incompatible with the process of singing, which requires a relaxed troat and adam's apple.

You could try but it doesn't sound easy. I simply accept my deep voice. I still sing the tenor part at the choir. If I had to sing my own songs, I wouldn't mind being a female Steve Naghavi... But that's just me.

That's one option yes. The only thing i like about being born male is actually having a male singing voice. Even if i could achieve a decent female singing voice (i've started training my talking voice), i'd miss singing as a male. So yeah, just thinking the hell with it and singing as a male as some famous transwomen singer definitly isn't the worst idea  :)

Guitar for about 38 years now... A few bands in my younger days.... Try to rip some soloing to backing tracks off YouTube at least a few times a week and usually succeed... At least as much as my acrylic nails allow :)

    I had the benefit of two awesome choir directors, one in high school, RIP Mrs Busarow, who took my range from baritone to Alto 2, and one in college gospel choir, who helped me hit Soprano 2, both by increasing the strength of my falsetto until I was able to do it full voice. Cigarettes and respiratory problems have dropped that back down to Alto 2, but the techniques still work for speaking.

Use to be in a goth/darkwave band back in the mid 80s - 90s called the "widowhood" I was the vocalist/guitarist/song writer.
Now seems like a eon ago.

Hehe, keep on the motivation.
Once you're past that "omagad my finders hurt so much" phase (actually kinda went back through it switching on an 8 strings), the guitar has one of the most satisfactory learning curve in the world of instruments.
